Man I am loving this.. You are following the same path as me. I just bought a 62 Mini and have it fully stripped and working on the body and planning on getting a Zcars kit too. Still not exactly sure what way I am going to car Race Spec, Haybusa or Vtec.. Exciting decisions :shifty:

Looks like there is going to be a few of us here in Cali with Zcars. I will have to start a diary soon..

Subscribed to this build, best of luck

Excellent! Where abouts are you in CA? that makes 3 of us here in CA building zcars! We will have to get together and swap notes shoot the poop. My crate should be here any day now. The shipper has it down as "in transit" - Can't wait. For me the race spec busa seemed like the way to go. But that is a decision that you have to make for your self. From the research that I have done the busa power plant has plenty of potential and there are loads of after market go fast parts from various manufactures.

On another note I just picked up a book that makes for some interesting reading. SpeedPro Series "How to Build Motorcycle-engined Racing Cars" This book details building motorcycle engined cars pretty well from ground up. Some great pictures and theory. here is the link if you are interested.

Ok folks my first couple of question -

Should I dry sump the Busa? Reasons why, pros, cons.
Is it necessary?
Are there manufactures that you would recommend?
Are there alternatives to a dry sump?

Ok thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Jeff

What was shipping like to the US? Are you planning on having this a road legal ride?

The project will be road legal when I'm done. Shipping was a bit on the expensive side. All said and done shipping/packing/customs duties/customs broker was north of 3400.00 ish

cheers,
Jeff

Drilling out the rivets on the box takes way too long. It was about this time last year when I got mine.

Congrats!

well it did'nt take long ran in to my first problem today. The drive flanges on my mini do not fit with the big brake kit. Looks like a different whole pattern and back side diameter then what I have. Have an email out to zcars to help point me in the right direction.

Here's a pic - Could it be that the Drive flanges need to be off a newer metro in stead of the old cooper s style?
(I know the disk are on backwards just there temporarily)

good to see the kits there ok and you have got started
just for info the hubs and uprights are from a drum braked model i think with an aftermarhet disc conversion which is a pretty rare thing
also even when you get the new hubs they are a tight fit on the register that goes inside the brake disc
be sure to clean any rust or imperfections off wuith a bit of emery tape before fitting them
they are a tight fit so that when they get hot they still keep a decent fit between the alloy and steel parts
we are getting big interest from the states at present due to the pound being so cheap against the dollar so expect more USA customers soon
theres also a chance i will be coming out to california in 2009 so maybe we can visit some of you and have a look at the cars
