forgot what a pain in the ass it is painting a car at home... you quickly run out of space. And if like me, get in a right mess.
This is the first (and hopefully the last) time I have paint a welded in cage; it’s by far the most challenging part to paint, I keep finding missed parts or runs to fix!
easy so far.. at this point i was still sane.

Happy with this, but finding out that im a bit fastidious, and slowly loosing the plot, chasing paint reactions, missed patches and f-in runs.

after a hard days graft, i finally saw some grey, really happy with the colour.

just a few small patches to sort then it was on to the roof..
after a few more days at it i finally got the roof painted. (arches still need to be finished off.. in grey at the moment but might yet go black..)
not the best pic.. but you get the idea.
Overall im really happy with it, it still needs some further work here and there to get it spot on, and a good mopping etc.

latest update as at today (04/02/09) following a bit of wet sanding..
before

after

That’s as good as I can get it.. still a fair bit to do, should get some real progress over the weekend.
Let me know what you think.

Great color choice! my clubby estate is going in the body shop this sunday to get painted Yukon Gray, but i'm curious as to which paint code you have as the can i had mixed a while back seems darker than that... was it the GR7 (Years: 59-68) code or the later LQS (Years: 90-98) code? - or maybe its just the picture/lighting that makes it look lighter?
in any case, great job painting it yourself!
cheers!
