greats more than enough torque, and it spends most of its time at 6-8 thousand, thats just cruising rpm, cant hear the engine being strained atall at it, its the same as holding a A series at 3000rpm really.

80lb ft of torque, 150bhp 125mph and 0-60 in under 5 seconds will do me fine.

bmw headed twink turbo will be good for all of 1000miles until you have to spend another 3k on a rebuild. cope with the 10mpg and ridiculous unreliability. the gearbox which will never deal with it, matt williams pretty much budgets for sets of clubman s/c gear sets.

where as i have a reliable 150bhp on demand with a sc cr sequential dog box which is solid. also, i can use 95 ron fuel. Which is a hell of alot cheaper than pumping high octane with addative into your mini every day :- i speak from experience with both

yer true.

but your still limited by fwd

question is am i?

:-

gear ratios and rotateing weight of the engine better flowing heads and so on.

im on around 17mpg but its running silly rich.

the engine im building will never be in a road car as such.

1000 miles is alot of hill climbs and drag strip passes.

f all torque?

erm, wrong. ask the 3 passengers I had in at gaydon!!

youve been reading too many ill informed opinions. at least I can get a complete 170 bhp engine and 6 speed sequential gearbox ready to fit for 700 quid.

no more bank breaking a series thankyou.

oh, and you can fit reverse as well if you want - you probably didnt read about that yet.

i presume a sproket type system driveing one of the rear wheels? or?

admitadly that 80 pound per foot of torque but it will hit you harder then an a-series with that torque and a much lower rotateing weight within the engine.

actually saying that, i might be persuaded if either of you take me out for a blast in one, if you dont mind me prodding around with a ruler for room around the engine ect.

I think alex was scheptical at first, but hes now clearly hooked ! both ours are front wheel drive, using the promotive conversion. More like a mini should be.

I'll take you for a whizz but you'll have to wait till castle coombe.

who's jamie? - that does sound a bit excessive, even the super light weight racer doesn't make that kind of numbers.
