A prime example of a mini which is really tacky. (anything with a bmw badge)
And i dont really like clear rear lights or union jacks.
Agreed, they look like something that fell out of a Xmas cracker or a box of cornflakes.
I can remember many Mk1, 2 & 3 early Mini Cooper enthusiasts saying something similar when the rather plasticky Rover Cooper was new but most moved on and lived with it in the Mini scene after a few years. I agree that some of the few remaining BINI bashers on here should perhaps do the same................
A MINI just like many classic Mini's can also be modified in a tacky way to some people's eyes but they all have their place in the diverse Mini/MINI scene and as some have said even tacky Minis add interest, also most of us look back and realise we made tasteless choices but often learn't from our mistakes for any future mods!
Finally if the new MINI was tacky looking or of poor quality when they leave the factory in Oxford I doubt they would have sold over a million so far all over the world or be building them in similar record numbers to the classic Mini when at its peak in the early 1970's?

Anyway there's nothing plastic about a Rover Mini Cooper and at least it was made at the same factory and in some cases by the same people who made the original Mini Coopers.
So think on sunshine.

it's because I'm sick of people actually getting wound up about what basically boils down to "opinions"
by all means have a light hearted bit of fun about it but dont get personal, dont take it personally and dont start the silly childish bickering.
its actually embarrassing to read

Anyway recently I did a lot or research into the genesis of the Rover Mini Cooper and I discovered that in many cases, the negative attitudes towards the Rover Cooper were simply tongue in cheek comments from people who actually owned more modern Minis anyway: -
So sink your teeth into that one Mab01.

I never said I agreed with their comments, I like ALL Minis. I was only relating that the die hard enthusiasts attitude to the Rover Cooper in the early 1990's (I owned one at the time) was very similar to your view of the new MINI now.
Like all cars though my later Rover Minis did have a lot more plastic trim, dash and switches in than my early Mk1 & 2's but quality did improve further in the last few years of production.
Many Classic Mini's were also built at the Cowley, Oxford factory..........on a recent tour of the new MINI plant on the same site at Cowley we were shown around by a recently retired worker who related many interesting stories to us about his classic Mini production days there. It really is a good interesting day out with some nice classic Mini's of various types also on show in the factory.

Currently on ebay
Ill be honest, IMO this looks better than the actual BINI, think BMW should put this into production instead of that other *rubbish*, allthough it would still be german. (this is just my opinion)

wide arches,so what, ive put miglias on the stroker beast, its my car and i like them!!!
i like them too

so some one puts a post up asking for peoples opinions...no one's right or wrong in what they think. everyone's entitled to there own opinions and they're all different that's why each mini is interesting and individual as its been said before it would be a very boring world if we all liked the same thing
