Some of you will recognise my car from a project log I started in Mini Engined Projects at the start of the year. Well, I didn't get a garage in time to stop any of the pending rust damage so it beat me on the first front, however, rust may have won the battle, but it hasn't won the war!

I'm restarting this thread in Complete Mini Rebuild as that's what this has turned in to now so let's go for it! I'm also hoping maybe I'll get a few more visiters now some more comments as no one seemed to notice my poor old Elliot's first thread.

Oh I know, the curb to get up to it is too harsh though. We were going to try with some car ramps but I feared the Police may have something to say about it.

Aesthetics wise, it's getting some 10x6 wellers (the motorsport type), bucket seats, wide arches, slammed, maybe a twin exhaust.

But you're thinking in the right direction :).

Right, there have been some developments and I've got pictures and such to show so we'll have a little bit of an update.

Having bought a shell a few months ago when I came back from the Czech Republic with the intention of reshelling my car only to discover it would be illegal and that the shell wasn't in as good a condition as the seller made it out to be I set about stripping the good bits off it for storage. I stripped off the front and rear subframes, hi-lo's, suspension doughnuts, radius arms, superfin drums and a steering rack. I gave them a going over with the pressure washer and put them in to storage. I'm going to chop the remainder of that shell up for some patch panels for my current shell.

I bought some 1.5 degree negative camber front arms off a fellow TMF member (thanks Flippy) and set about wire brushing them down and giving them a coat of hammerite. I'm toying with the idea of selling them on for what I bought them for and buying some adjustable ones instead.

This last weekend I went down the M6 to meet David Kimberley (TDK Racing) as I'd ordered some fiberglass bits from him.

Posted Image

One MK1 bootlid skin which I'm going to bond on to my existing bootlid frame once I've removed the old metal skin.

Posted Image

A two piece fiberglass front end, the bonnet is just resting in place now and I have to say wow, the quality of this front is fantastic and I can not wait to get it on the car. I have to give great thanks to David for coming half way up the M6 to meet me because the postage costs of the front were outright silly. I reccomend people to deal with Mr. Kimberley, he's a top guy and incredibly helpful, thanks again David (http://tdkracing.co.uk).

That's all for now, I do have a big box of things from Mini Spares but I've not been through and taken pictures yet, but I will get around to it. I have also sorted a garage to carry out work in so we should see some actual progress before long.

Thanks for looking.

Clearly the previous post wasn't quite bling bling enough to inspire a reply from anyone so I set about unpacking my other, much shinier goodies:

Posted Image
Box from Mini Spares, brilliantly packed as always.

Posted Image
Oil change and filter.

Posted Image
A set of solid subframe mounts for the tower bolt mounting points.

Posted Image
A set of bonnet pins.

Posted Image
Three new curtousey light switches, my old ones aren't reliable.

Posted Image
Some new HT leads.

Posted Image
Mk1 number plate lamp for my new boot lid.

Posted Image
New gear selector shaft seal for my gearbox.

Posted Image
Two new stainless steel head lamp bezels.

Posted Image
Two plastic lamp bucket kits from Wipac.

Posted Image
Two new Wipac Clearforms.

Posted Image
The light assembly put together to see how they fit, very pleased.

Work will be kicking up properly in the next few weeks as my car actually fits in the garage I have to work in now. Plus, my MOT runs out on Monday.

Thanks for looking.
