2 miles is an easy walk. If you're doing short journeys then make sure you take it for a long drive me on the weekend and make sure you get the engine HOT.

2 miles is an easy walk, not so much when taking 2 guitars, a 2000W concert amp, a multicore and a mixing desk about with you! haha, I took it for a good run today, covered about 30 miles - such a nice day with the sun showing its self!

dumb question... does the STD heater only re-circulate cabin air through the drivers vent?
Jan 06 2016 06:31 PM

Steve220
I got rid of mine. I take the risk that the vent will fill with leaves etc. But I only drive it when its bone dry anyway.

Thanks for the input guys, funnily enough the reason I was asking was due to steamy windows! The vent seems to work perfectly well, but as I said when I have the heater on the airflow is reduced and the sound of the fan changes like it is working harder if I shut the vent in the car - on a side note, if the heater is running with the vent open no air cones out of the vent... Might video it tomorrow as to better demonstrate! :) also, I picked up some rain x the other day... H...

Jesus! how often do you have to change them??
Dec 13 2015 11:19 PM -
CityEPete
Thankfully not often, ten years probably the maximum but as its such a large acoustic instrument the strings make much more difference than even an acoustic guitar as there are many more types of string, real gut orchestral strings are £100.....EACH!

Anyone got any experience with sportspacks in the snow? I often wonder if the wide wheels will cause the loss of the minis know capabilities in the stuff?

only a few years ago people were willing to giveaway a set of 12" steels with usable tyres after replacing them for 13's...

leaky(newish) KYB shock - minispares' or KYB's issue? or mine?? I need to get a new one ASAP as my mini is my daily and I need it to get to work.... should I just buy a new one and hope that I could get my money back in the longer run through warranty?

Get the wheels that suit your car and fit the brake setup that your car already has.

Seeing mighty car mods supercharge and custom map a mini very much the same as mine kind d of makes me sad knowing I'll never be able to do that with mine...

My heater gets going within a minute or so - pretty much warm soon as your moving! Am I right in thinking that I should keep the drivers air vent open as a sort of recirculation? the air flow is much better with the air vent open?
Nov 22 2015 04:54 PM -
Steve220
Not sure how it works on the air conditioned minis, however on conventional you get an outside feed from the O/S wing vent pipe which is also where the fresh air feed comes from. I only ever use mine to clear the windscreen if it's misty. Blocked off the other vents with the centre console.

Imagine a world where parts for minis were reasonably priced... I mean for the price of a decent cylinder head you could buy a couple of perfectly useable cars!

Hehe - there may have been a slight bit of sarcasm in there Steve.. Haha! General parts for minis are very reasonable although there is of course the large number of expensive goodies that we could only dream of! *drools over supercharger kit*
Nov 20 2015 08:17 AM -
Steve220
I'm going to be honest when I say this - the supercharging kits for the mini aren't expensive. For what they are and the power gains available i believe they are well priced. A lot is in proportion of your income, if you are on bare bones I can understand why they appear expensive.

Second hand engines are expensive!
I bought a Rover VVC engine with 70k miles for £180 last year, It'd cost you far more for a worn out 1275 in need of a rebuild!

What are your thoughts on the new mighty car mods video where they work on fitting a vmaxscart SC kit?

everyone supercharges, they should of done something way cooler
Nov 13 2015 01:40 PM -
inim_repooc
I cant help feeling that putting a SC on a injection mini like that is kind of going over the top of the problem - really you should uprate to cross pin diff, rebuild box, drop F/D on jap model maybe... and really strip and rebuild the engine at least... the thing is - the SC kit can make waaaay more power than the 90-100 bhp the ECU holds out too and if you spend more on ecu's then you need to spend even more on the gearbox and whatever... seems better to just stay simple and get a well...
Nov 14 2015 12:37 AM -
inim_repooc
*drop F/D as in the number, making the gearing taller from 3.1 to somthing like 2.9 or dare I say 2.7... to make use of the extra toque and power
