drive your mini into the transit, hide it and save 150.

Got a really loud grinding sound at low revs.... thinking alternator bearing or waterpump...

Get a long screwdriver and place the end on the alternator and your ear the other side, you'll hear it louder if it is the spot thats worn.

Check the 'Tell Tale Hole' on the underside of the water pump, if coolant is dribbling out your bearings are failing and the coolant is washing out the lubricated and sealed bearings.

will I need an AC reader for this? is it the obd shaped port inside? thanks

From what the wiring diagrams tell me, the srs is linked to the OBD port

Took wheel off today - the sensor ring had trapped part of the printed 'tape' inside, seems to be working okay so far

Don't worry, I plan on sticking to 20w 50 aha, was a thought from thinking about the classic bike world, you seem to get all sorts of oils being sworn by, such as straight 40 to fully synthetic thin stuff
!

Finished putting the new oil in... Realised it generally helps if you put the sump bung back in beforehand.... :/

Not done it with oil but I have done it with coolant. My dad and I ended up getting his car back from a garage in parts. As we never disassembled it, we never thought that we may have to but a drain plug back in the radiator.

Whilst theroy suggests that the optimal exhaust for a mini will be around 1.75 diameter and have the same size final exit, how much difference would be seen in reality with a 2.25 exit on an otherwise 1.75 system?

Tailpipe is merely a cosmetic commodity. The major factor is that you have 1.75" ID which most mini exhausts aren't, they're 1.75 OD making the ID around 1.6".

Do you know the ID of the RC40's?

I think the 1.75"OD is 1.625"ID. When you have a small pipe going to a big pipe, it slows and cools the exhaust faster, which can reduce performance.
