Just walked past two young girls - about 9 - showing off their twerking skills to some other girls/boys. They looked so wrong, wrong, wrong

3 years ago I taught at a school in a really rough part of town. Shocker on the playground to hear grade 2 girls (about 8 years old) calling out "Let's play Jersey Shore! I'll be Snookie!"

I don't even want to know what Jersey Shore is...too scared to Google it!

Such a nice feeling when you've finally finished something that you've been dreading and putting off for ages.

Certainly is!

Just picked the daily driver up from SmartCar in Swindon who did a 3 stage polish on my hazed black daily driver. Absolutely fantastic. Looks like new. Thoroughly recommend!

Ah wow! Don't suppose you have any before and after shots do you? I know someone who could do with this but can't convince them

I did take some befores but, as it was pretty dirty beforehand anyway, it's not a good comparison really. After 7 years I had that hologram effect going on across the paint and a few scuffs and scrapes. Now a really deep, glossy black again and the scratches have gone. They used Meguires and it was £125.00 plus VAT. Really good value I think. I'd do it in future if I was selling a car. Looks tons better.

Bitten the bullet and booked the car in for a professional 3 stage polish tomorrow. What's the after-maintenance? Was just going to use Autoglym Extra Gloss protection.

seems a fair price.

We shall see. I figured by the time I'd paid for the materials/equipment and factoring in it will take me a fair few hours (which I just don't have spare) it seemed a reasonable one-off.

post some before and after picture in the show and shine section. my daily car will be up for sale soon so if it looks good ill be getting a dose of it

Urrghh. The ad with Nicole Sherzinger saying "yowgert" and "whhhhipped" is really annoying! Thinking of Stewie and his "cool whhhip".

I wouldn't know but they usually make alot of fuss over that sort of thing.

I've bought a fair few ice creams from the ice cream lady that comes round lately. But now she's taken to stopping right in front of my house instead of down the road like normal. That's embarrassing. Feel obliged to go out and buy something but don't want to ...

Got nice clean Mini out of garage. Drove to local shop. Popped in for 2 minutes to buy stamps. Came out; car covered in bird s**t. End to end. Humphh ..

People always seem to use their windscreen washer in front of me after I've spent 5 hours detailing the car.

My small ginger cat has just seen off a big ugly brute of a tom. Sent him flying over the fence. Go girl!

When does a paint colour become "dark"? Bought some AutoGlym Ultra Deep Shine for another vehicle and it says it's for dark paintwork. Wondering if I can use it on the Mini. Is Flame red classed as dark? When does dark begin? I am in the dark ...

-
crazirob
nope, for that you would want, AutoGlym Super resin polish, followed by, either a wax or a sealant.
Aug 04 2014 11:37 AM -
Miniminx71
I've always used the Super Resin Polish followed by the Extra Gloss Protection on the Mini. I'll stick with that.

Looks like everyone else has shed some light on the subject already...
I agree, flame red is not a dark colour

Discovered today that there's a lot of car snobbery/jealousy amongst Mini owners out there. Couldn't believe the conversations I overheard earlier. Really nasty. Shame.

Why don't insurance companies cotton on to the fact that, if you haven't claimed anything and haven't cost them any money, randomly putting up your insurance premium by £100 isn't going to keep you as a customer?

-
Ben_O
They try their luck. Had this with co-op last year. They put the premium up so i phoned them and told them i had lower quotes and they then beat the other quotes. You get people like my mum who receives a renewal that has gone up and she moans about it but still pays it. silly really

Went girlie shopping today. My friend spent £80 on a dress and make up. I spent about the same on AutoGlym. We both think the other's bonkers.

-

Love the thought of girlie shopping in Halfords! would rather look round there than traipse round clothes shops

Lucky you! we have had a right mixed bag of weather in Sunny Sittingbourne including torrential downpours and flooding. Oh well, today is a nice day. Just a shame i don't have a mini OTR to enjoy
