Mine had no engine up until 10 days ago. Hopefully I'll get it sorted in my limited spare time!

Will be doing the same to mine at the end of this month... :(
It needs to come off the road to have some work carried out on it, so might as well have an excuse to not drive it...

Mine was my daily driver and I was putting too many miles on it. Now drive a Golf and am going to rebuild my minis engine

Fellow mk4 owner here! Nice cars considering they're getting on now. Complete opposite to the mini though!

Looking at a new car, take the Mini off the road for a bit of TLC and I like the look of a Golf...

Just squeezed in the most petrol I've ever put in my car... £31 which is 27 litres of V-Power. Inaccurate fuel gauges aren't very helpful!

Yay. I filled mine with v power. It seemed to run better on v power, but maybee that's because it was set-up with that particular petrol.

Mine is only a standard 1275 SPi, but I have always used V-Power fuel. I don't do that many miles to worry about the cost, and it puts my mind at rest that it's decent petrol going through my car. Only other fuel I've used since passing my test was Tesco Momentum 99 but that was only because a Shell branch wasn't closeby! (I didn't notice a difference though)

At one point I was only doing 6 miles per day, to work and back, so only needed to fill up every week or week and a half. :) I travel around 6 miles to work now, and find the traffic annoying. I would rather work closer to home to be honest.

Yesterday I cleaned up the earthing point in the boot and then sprayed clear waxoil over the top to protect it. Thinking about it.. was that a bad idea? Will it "seep" in and raise the resistance of the connection?

Copper grease would probably work just as well.

If you look at the metal to matal joint under magnification it like train tracks it will find its way in

I will clean it off then! Don't have any dielectric grease. So whats best, normal grease or copper grease?

Single piece MPi style stabilizer bush or the 2 piece rubber types (and normal rubber or the ones with the conical inserts?) My poly ones transmit too much vibration!!

I fitted poly stabiliser bushes and I think that's why I get so much vibration when traveling at 60ish. I reckon rubber bushes in at least one end along with some more sound deadening will quieten it right down.

I only fit poly stabiliser mounts, new rubber is rubbish

But I get so much vibration in the car. At 60mph it's really loud. I'm going to try the rubber with plastic cones and see what it's like. If it's no better then I obviously need more sound deadening!

Does a single box side exit exhaust sound any different to a single box centre exit exhaust? Lets say of the same type/brand...
