How do you get truck horns to work in a mini then? They run on 24v dont they?

mine runs on compressed air, the solenoid on the air line is 24v but it still opens with 12v.
for it to work u need a compressor, pressure switch , air tank and hoses (and some extra space)

Vern has a very over-used standard horn, it's all very cute until you're trying to be angry at other motorists when it's frustratingly cute. I tend to use it at other minis and to spruce up songs.

We have plans for a comedy airhorn hopefully next year.

hehe

just been looking on you tube, some VERY funny videos, kinda spoils the fun though when you have to wear ear defenders to sound your horn?

I heard on Friday that providing your horn makes one tone when its sounded, it will pass an MOT. So if you are one of these people with a dixie etc, have a standard one as well. I plan to have a dixie fixed to a switch on my centre console, then I can switch on and off as and when, and I also want a standard horn for all those irritating people out on the roads, that way I'll still pass an MOT =P

For those who have fitted a Stebel Nautilus did you mount it in the same location as the original horn or did you put it in the boot?

Also these are the only fitting instructions I can find http://www.xrv.org.u....php?photo=6185

I've got a '93 1.3i Rover with some rather strange wiring, if anyone has any fitting suggestions/guides etc I'd be most grateful, gonna go pick up some extra wiring from maplins or somewhere and then get started this afternoon :-s

i beleive u just mount it where the original horn was. then plug the wire that was going into the old horn onto the relay, along with a feed from the 2nd fuse down (25A), an earth and the lead to the stebel horn.
also i think you need to put a 20A inline fuse between the fusebox and the relay?

if that makes sense? :shifty:

Yep makes sense :shifty: Just been out in the garage taking all the bits off so I could actually get to the original horn (stupid injection engine electrics) might have got a wee bit carried and have now decided to pop the engine out and do a stripdown/rebuild/rewire (she needs it anyway the rings are fried I think).)

Back on topic, I have a bog standard horn and will shortly have a Stebel Nautilus (and new engine....)

lol, isn't this always the way with minis! Simple tidying of wires can lead to major work being done!

Doesnt anyone remember THIS?

THIS IS ASWSOME!!! but i think it would blow the bonnet off? (770dB at 900Hz)

I'm looking for a new horn aswell, want something arround 130dB, gotta be louder than a chavs stereo, the loudest ive heard stands at 125DB...

i have a Stebel nautilus in the scamp, at 139db its great for when someone is looking closely into your engine bay. teeheehee :- .

its also gets the attention of lorry drivers as they try to pull into your lane cause they cant see you ;) .

i tried the other tune type ones but the Stebel nautilus is the dogs danglies.

quick note when looking to buy one, the Stebel nautilus compact has a different tone to the standard Stebel nautilus. http://www.stebel.it...l/index2009.htm

My Woody has a standard horn, my Jet Black has a AHOOOOOOOOOOOHAAAAAAAAAA one and a standard as well, for it would fail MoT with the AHOOHA one. It just takes a second to swith the cables.
