So yesterday, James kindly took my crank to MED, and I'm getting a regrind and heat treated, for a nice price of £100, seems like a fair price to me . Thanks for that mate .

So today I did a ew odd jobs on the mini, I started to repair the small holes in the bottom of the door:



They arn't a big problem. This mess was caused by no drain holes in the bottom of the door, so the water just built up, and caused these , anyway I cracked on . Once I had sanded them down, I sprayed it with primer:



Then I filled them, sanded them, then filled some more, to give this:



All I need to do now is sand them off, prime, spray back, and laquar, then thats another job off the list .

Inbetween wainting for paint to dry, and filler to dry, I kept putting Nitromorse on my rocker cover to get the horrible black paint off it:



Thats how it started, and this is how I left it:



Nearly there, once I have completly stripped the paint off, I will give it a clean, then give it a nice 'brushed' affect, should look goo in the end . I also have about three packages to come this week, so they should keep me busy too .

They are an alternator rebuild kit, some acoustic cloth to cover the back seat, and a fibre glass single skin smooth boot .

The smooth boot will be a big thing off the list, and will finish off the look nicely and will also get rid of the nasty dent in the boot

Yer thought I would get the boot first, as the bonnet isn't to bad at the minute , got a small update, just need to upload pictures .

yeah, like you said the bonnet isn't really noticeable, but the boot is quite bad, so it would make a big difference with a new boot

Yer, I might change it before it goes back on the road, or I might not, but when I do, I will go fibre glass again.

My mobile isn't working on my computer today , but basically, my alternator rebuild kit came today, and I tried one of the alternators, but it was stuck solid, so I have started on the old one that came off my engine . I wasn't to bad inside, but thought it could do with one anyway, as its been on the engine since '87 , so thought it deserved it . Only problem is, the main bit of the alternator, a little board with electric bits on, isn't quite the same as whats in it at present. Instead of having the three pins where that clip of wires goes onto the alternator, it has just one screw, so a slight modification might be in order , should get it done tomorrow .

So didn't get the alternator finished today , but made good progress on it . So here is what I got in the kit:



I wont be replacing the bearings as they have to be pressed in and out , but the rest was good . Here is what the problem was:





Can you see it? It is the three pin thing that connects onto the alternator, the old one has it, but the new one doesn't :





So I had to be modified , I cut off that screw that is on the new one, and flattened it out to make one on the pins, then I cut off the two earth pins to put on the new one, made the holes a little bigger, bolted it on, and hey presto, the three pins :



It should do nicely , might last another 22 years . Hopefully more over the weekend .

Yer I checked them against that lower level bit of the unit, and they are higher than that, so it should be ok .

Yer, I cudn't see any difference in the two units apart from the three pins, so hopefully the rest will be the same and still work .
