really coming on mate, the panels looking great and like you say your all important seams are mint!!!!! keep at it emma

so the plan is (which i hope is realistic) is to paint the roof on tuesday evening, then underneath, boot area and engine bay on firday evening, then saturday paint the body doors, boot, bonnet, wheel trims etc

over the weekend i've started on the seam strips and boot hinges

with out lovely little frame for them



the seam trims fit on these



its well good!!

anyway, so they were striped on there primer coating, red oxided and now primed

the boot and bonnet are finiahed ready for painting, after i rubbed them down with 800 wet and dry, and the wheel trims are all ready tooo

the front end has been 400 flatted, as has the whole passenger side, and half the roof, the doors are getting there and should be ready to 400 sooon

then a i need to 400 the drivers side and rest of the roof and back panel, then 800 everything

its all going well and coming together atlast!!!, i still need to do loads to get it ready to paint the roof tomorrow, my plan is to get the whole shell and doors etc ready to paint at once, so i don't have to worry about rubbing down with new paint on!!

and i have a lovely red guide coat!!

You've done so much on this in such a short time span, well done!! I feel like I've learnt a little bit from keeping up with this thread Can't wait to see the lovely little sky all sprayed up. Can't tell you how much I envy you, mini skys are my fave LE! goodluck with the rest of the flatting n spraying in the next few days!

thanks, i've always loved the sky and rose le's, i dunno why, and i can't quite remember when i first knew about them!!! they are quite rare now tho

quick update, to say, the roof is now BLUE



but there are a few runs, so we will probably repaint it tonight....

but everything is all flatted down ready to paint

i think i left my camera at the garage or in my dads car, but i;ll get some pic up later, when i go flat the runs down

the paint went on really well (apart from the bugs and runs )

and really shiney

so i've flatted the roof back with 800 and we will repaint it tonight!!

fantastic!!!!! re the runs leave it to flash off go off between coats to let it go of, wont sag- run as much then as the coats have dried a little between

we left about 20 mins between the coats (3 coats), dad has a habbit of putting too much paint on tho..... when he did the roof on my sisters mini, it run down the gutters and on the seams then made a puddle on the floor......

be much better then me doing it tho!!! LOL

ok so i found my normal camera with the pics from the past few days!!

so rubbed down





and masked up





dad painting it on tuesday nite



then last nights coat





there are less bugs in the paint, and only one run just above the front gutter in the middle, which should flat back alright!!!

i might start putting the rear sub back together, if i can find any of the bits!!!
