ok so today i built up the radius arms, and fitted my first ever wheel bearings, some how i managed to blag it...... (big hammer)

i've lost my camera again tho, its not good, i think i left it at the garage again =]

so basically bolted the back plates on to the arms with the handbrake bracket things, then put the cyclinders on, and shoes, and springs, new handbrake gaitors things, then did the wheel bearings, and fitted the mounts back on to the subby. i'm really quite proud, i've changed the shoes before, but thats about it... i'm loving how much i'm learning its great!!!!!!

oh yeah and fitted new radius arm pins, from the kit, and put grease everywhere after the dust seal did't fit very well :(

tomorrow i will (go and get tax for my dads morris, its been off the road for 1984, so is not regisister as histroic to get the free tax, so he has sent the forms off, but with the wrong insurance, so they could do it, so i'll be off to exeter (25 miles( next to where i used to work)) and hopefully get it taxed!!!!)

and then make the cooper brake pipes for the rear sub, and bolt the radius arms on!!

Great work Emma! Did you have the radius arms fitted to the subframe & torqued up when you were pumping the grease in? If not the grease will find it's way out - path of least resistance and all that! Also IIRC the dust seals are 2 different sizes - did you have them in the right places?

Keep it up - looking forward to seeing this one finished - shouldn't be long at the rate you are going!

i did try swapping the seals over but they still seam way too small, hopfully i'll sort it tomorrow!!!

and they were just loose with the arm nuts not done up very tightly, so thats why it came out (and i was talking to someone rather than looking at the arm =] )

thanks tho, i'm quite surprised how easily the sub is going back together, it probably wont last tho!!!

ok so today

did this to my green mini

Posted Image

Posted Image

90,000 miles!!!, can't believe it was on 47k when we got it....

anyway

unmasked the body and started to mask up the bits we painted yesterday

Posted Image

Posted Image

hung everything on the stand - i;m quite impressed they have actually stayed there!!! LOL

Posted Image

Posted Image

then dad started painting

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

but there are quite a few runs, i think dad struggled to see how much paint he was putting on because its so white, so its kinda invisible, its nothing that can't be flatted out tho

here are the worse

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

i love my wheel trims tho, they are sooooooo good!!!!

and i can't wait to take the masking for the roof off tomorrow...

two pack is wicked!!

and i have to say, over night the paint has settled abit more and looks even better!!!!

first off tho, my green mini needed his 3000 mile service, so went to the garage to find

Posted Image

Posted Image

the quad track run right outside the garage!!!, not good

so heres some quads going round, they had 70 in the adult class, then 20 in the junior, then dunno how many in the middle class, it was mental up there!!!!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

DUST

Posted Image

anyone no one dust

Posted Image

yummy!!!

anyway, so changed the oil in my green mini, checked the plug gaps, unseized and adjusted the rear drum i couldn't do last weekend, cleaned out my airfilter (and broke the speedo cable in the process), changed the rocker box gasket, and painted my grille, so he was dusty and looked like this

Posted Image

Posted Image

and the sky, well, i really love the wheel trims, they are sooooooooo nice,

Posted Image

i tidied everything up, so i could put the doors, on the bonnet and roof of the farmers truimp, and the boot and bonnet on the roof of the our red mayfair, then unmasked the sky....

Posted Image

whoop whoop, i have a sky again, its sooooooooo nice

Posted Image

Posted Image

went up there tonight after everyonr had left and he was covered in dust, so blew most of it off with the airline, there are ridgeds everywhere outside where the dust and stones have been thrown aside!!!, and dust everywhere!!!!!!

Superb! Sky looks fantastic! REALLY NICE!!!! Love the grille on the green mini, also whats that paint on the sills , sills look white? And looks high at the front and back, i like it like that, mine look bit low i think even tho i fitted new cones, thinking of getting a high low kit and rasing it somwhat!
Great pics of the mini and minor aswell, they look well toghether, the minor will look great with them alloys on you got and the sill finishers fitted. Classic run out i see, nice photos, you getting good with a cammera Emma !

all the paint on my grill is reacted like hell, because its tha nasty spray putty, because its the only yellow we had LOL!!!, and yeah my sills are white, (and there are not nasty things lurking under my over sills) its that nasty white paint i used on the underneath of the sky, its really chipped tho.... i stone ship it sometime!!!

and yeah its raised on highlows alround, mainly because of the farm lane and all the bumps down it!!!!,

damn you noticing the missing sill finishers!!!!, he has got some stainless ones to go on, but they are still on the morris he crashed

i do love that pic, i treated myself to a fuji 5800 at xmas, its brillient!!!

THE ENGINE RUNS!!!!!

I'm so happy, yesterday and today i've spent cleaning up engine bits and refitting them, yesterday was a bit pants, because the engine paint bloomed because it was too cold, but not today..

Posted Image

and i tryed to clean out the rad, i back flushed it, - clean, so filled it with water, covered each end, shook, poured the water out and it was blue!!!, love it!!!

i also fixed the stereo in my trailer, i tryed to charge its battery (which came from the sky) and connected it the wrong way, so blonde!!! and blew the fuse, but i had to take half of the boarding out to get at the stereo and wiring/!!,but its all fixed now ready for its outing on sunday!!!!

any way, so turned the engine from this

Posted Image

to this

Posted Image

then went home

then got dad up to help me when he came home from work, mainly to lift the engine off the makeshift bench on to the floor, so i can start on the front subby on the 'bench', so we did that,

then dad got his astra to jump the engine, ran a wire to the coil for power, (went on negative first, because the coil is upsidedown) and stuck a pipe from the fuel pump to the petrol can(2+ year old fuel really doesn't work), turn the engine over, then prompty noticed fuel pouring out the bottom of the carb..... doh, so dad fixed that after confusing me, saying i had broke it!!, then the next attempt saw oil pouring out the main oil pipe where i hadn't tigthened it!! whoops, then next put the thing on the spark plug which shows the spark, nothing - wire to coil on the wrong side, next attempt lined the timing up, all wrong i had put the leads in the wrong order,

so then easy start, me on throttle/choke, dad on power, vrooooooooooooom, then it dies because the fuel is pants and there is a massive hole in the inlet manifold for the servo take off, so we do it again, because i get scared and confused and let go of the choke, not the throttle, vrooooooooom, and we do it a few more times, but it runs sooooo well for 2 seconds, on all 4, not spluttering, its well good!!!, it runs!!! whoop whoop, i'm soooo chuffed, (even if one of the core plugs is not in right and peeing out water!!!)

so tommorow is get some more core plugs, (and speedo cable to replace mine that has broken in half(damn carb hitting it) put a smiths temp guage back in my car, if i can wire it in alright, then start on the front subby, i think monday i will try to get both subbys on!!!!!
