so today fitted the new bulkhead soundproofing (2 layers for extra quietness!!!

Posted Image

then screwed the fuse box to the bulkhead and the plastic bit on the lomm to the bulkhead.

the moved the hoen, coil and servo lines to fit the fresh air vent thing

Posted Image

cleaned up and painted the wiper motor and braket, and got the screws out of the plastic holders for the bracket, which icouldn't get undone when it was on the car!!!, then robbed a plastic screw holder from the fornt of the trailer because one was broken!!,

Posted Image

then i fed the wires inside thru the hole in the dash rail to the right place, and kinda worked out what they were for (still gotta find the power for the stereo, unless thats on its own loom)

and dad helped my put the new(er) lower dash rail back in, this is where a question if i actually like grey and if a can live with a grey interior.....

its gonna be a challenge!!! LOL

ok, so today

fitted the switch panel

Posted Image

then connected up the choke and heater cables, and put in the accelator cable and the wiper motor

Posted Image

then started on the fresh air vent system

Posted Image

(after makeing gaskets out of rubber and heating the vents to bend them back into shape, after they melted a bit when i grinded the nuts off!!!

Posted Image

then made new holders for the vent pipes from stainless

Posted Image

(i had to remake this one, (out of less shiney stainless) as it wasn't thick or long enough to hold the pipes!!!)

Posted Image

then put the grommets in the bulkhead for the heater hose, which look well smart, i'm so chuffed with them!!!

Posted Image

how sad!!!,

then i cut the hole in the bulkhead for the speedo cable to go thru and dad decided it was funny, so took a pic of me!! ( i was fully stood up out of the windscreen)

Posted Image

Posted Image

then the massive steering wheel went on, so dad could put the hubs on (the rack is really stiff noew after the new bushes in the steering coloumn!!!)

Posted Image

and pretty hubs

Posted Image

so the plan!!!

tomorrow i will sandblast ( i love the sand blaster(must remember to wear a hat, else i'll have snad hair again)) the grille, wheels and parts of the bumper, then get all the grey bits ready to prime, and eventually paint!!!

the wheel arches, sill strips, and wingmirrors are new and should just need some plastic primer, then the bumpers are seccond hand geniune ones, with a bit of surface rust, then the doorhandles are all second hand and should just need a quick rub down, as does the number plate light housing, and the grille i have a choice of 2, which i can't remember much about!!!

i don;t think this will take me all day to sort out, so i'll probably add the discs and drive flanges to the hubs, then drums to the back brakes, feed the rear loom through the bulkhead (and repair it)then put the bulkhead lining on the inside in!!!

Hey Emma - looking good as always! Just a quick tip on the switches - the surface of them goes grey/white over time (as yours have) - you can get them looking a lot 'blacker' by scraping off the oxidisation with your finger nails and finishing off with a bit of polish on a cloth. You'll end up with grubby looking finger nails but great looking switches!

I'm looking forward to seeing your car at the shows later this year!

i may have to try that i did t cut them but it didn't really help!!, i might try with a bit of rubbing down paper to avoid the manky nails tho!!! LOL

today i've been playing grey bits!!! whoop whoop, but forgot the doorhandles!! DOH!!

so started with the wheel arches, and cut the knobby bits of plastic off them (cheap non-gen ones)

Posted Image

and i got the cheap odd pair of wingmirrors from mini spares, and flatted them down

Posted Image

i also flatted down the sill stripes, just so the paint would stick to them!!

and plastic primed them all

Posted Image

then these are the bumpers and grille

Posted Image

which i decided that i will get fibreglass ones, rather than try to make second hand bumpers look nice.. (and i'm far to lazy!!)

then i started on the wheels

Posted Image

excuse the tape, it where it was used as part of the quad bike track!!

so i sandblasted/wirebushed them

Posted Image

red oxided

Posted Image

and painted Black!!!

Posted Image

nice shiney wheels, ready for there new tyres!!!

and i'm afraid i'm not gonna have as much time on the sky for a while, because i'm start a new job tomorrow, at beverage brands, who make WKD, and Sholer and some cider (discouted booze), so less time, BUT more money!! whoop whoop

still working on the bumpers!!!, yeah plastic primers alright, my arches on my green mini have been chipped tho :), but they are smooth and the skys are textured so it should be alright!!!

ok, its been a while since i updates this, (damn work)

but i have spent about 2 hours on it each night, so i've got a bit done!!!, mainly wiring!!!

the main job has been to wire a alarm in , which just needs a earth on the siren now!!!

i've also pull the rear loom and stereo wiring through to the back,

fitted the disks to the drive flanges and then to the hubs

Posted Image

and tightened up the rear wheel bearings, painted the drums and fitted
Posted Image

then cut the hole in the bulkhead for the rear loom to go thru and filled with another lovely grommet (does fit too well tho!!!)
Posted Image

i've also wired in a light for the boot complete with its own pin switch, gave the wheels another coat of black, cleaned up the gearlinkage ready to paint black and refit, and cleaned up the power cable ready to go back on. i've also refitted the battery earth cable, and moved the planks of wood from underneath so i can fit the exhuast etc

so i got a massive list of things to do over the weekend hopefully i'll get most of them done!!
