I have a solution.

I honestly believe that Children that grow up in this fast food instant gradification society of ours would benifit from some Discipline. I am a BIG supporter of when students finish school they should have a manditory requirement to sreve their Country. You should serve in the Army,Navy,Marines or coast guard. That would certainly intill a sense of discipline and Honour among them at an early age and create a plaform to start your life from. Honor,comorodary and respect is lacking in many aspects of society and would change how people act.

If you like to hug tree's and dance around like a fairy and don't want to serve your great nation because you have a fundimental "belief" issue with joining the military then you can serve your country by spending the same amount of time as the Military optioned people by working in the community building low income housing,volunteering for the elderly or just being an active memeber in the community serving others needs before your own.

If you don't want to do that then...there is the Woodchipper option!

I used to support the same idea of mandatory enrolment, but having just thought about it, there are many people that come out of school as well rounded people and it would be unfair to force a lifestyle on them, if only for a couple of years.

However, I for one am all for the old school prison system of breaking rocks 12 hours a day, chain gangs, walking a treadmill for hours on end. Too many youths think prison is too easy (no wonder if they get TV, PS3s, pool, etc). Make prison a punishment again, and if kids are under 16 then make the parent share the punishment.

EXACTLY...realy...how long do you think they would last with people who have made a consious choice to serve?? NOt too long. They would be beaten and brought into line quite quickly.
Jammy..there was a second option for people that didn't want to serve in the MIlitary,volunteer community service was an option so if you didnt have what it takes to serve you could build houses for the poor and work with the elderly or some banana like that.

I don't see why everyone HAS to be punished on leaving school? What about the people who want to just get on in life, get a job, maybe start a business, or even just go travelling and see the world?

No job/no college = Public Service in some way.

Hitler had the right idea, but the wrong race. Exterminate the chavs. No half-measures...wipe them out completely.
Britain has one of the highest ( I believe it is actually the highest) population densities in Europe - Average working people are not having families because they cant afford to or because they dont want their children being brought up in modern society, which they cant afford to get out of. The country is overcrowded and the chav element is a massive drain on society.

If you remove the chavs, you remove the problem.
Death squads roving the streets, concentration camps, lines of track-suit clad scumbags being machine-gunned, then their bodies being bulldozed into lime-filled pits and buried.....kill them all.

Anyone on long-term dole, anyone who plays R&B music through a mobile phone speaker in public, any serial criminal offenders, anyone who feels spitting on the floor or littering is acceptable, anyone sentenced to "life" imprisonment, anyone illiterate past the age of 10, anyone claiming phoney disability or other benefit scroungers - have teams of army doctors in the camps, checking for real disabilities. Having a gammy wrist doesnt mean you can sit on benefits for the rest of your life, I know people who manage to do a manual job with a whole arm missing, simply becase they are willing to work. Anyone not willing to pay or work their way in society goes into the pit, as does anyone not willing to integrate in their community.

I would imagine the population of Uk would be reduced by about a third. Social security spending would drop to almost nill, NHS bills and waiting lists would drop, no-win-no fee lawyers would go bankrupt, Elizabeth Duke jewelry would dissappear, and honest people could walk the streets without fear. Reduced spending on nhs and benefits would mean either a reduction in taxes or a massive boost in spending in the community. People will be able to have a family, and bring up their kids in a safer and MUCH more pleasant environment.

Sure, carpet-bombing scummy council estates will take out some non-chav people, but this is an acceptable loss - to make an omlette, you have to break eggs.

I dont see any flaws.

Nope...It called a sacrifice for a greater good not a punishment. People need to learn a different level of commitment. It's a personal sacrifice that is meant to act as a selfless gesture. Not entering the fast paced carreer world for a few years isnt going to hurt anyone. Thats a fact. Whats wrong with giving a little bit of time to help others and make a positive change? Thats not happening at the momment with the Droves of people leaving school and moving on with their carreers is it?
Sacrifice and commitment towards making yourself and the world better is too much to ask for most people..thats why it's not being done. If it's not in the persons own interest and doesnt benifit THEM in some way then it's not concidered. Getting placed into a position where you have to do it will make that person a stronger and more well rounded person. It's not as though they would have to live in a Boot camp situation as they are a volunteer and should go home at night.
Honestly if that seems like to much to ask then thats kind of sad.. I would have been more than glad to serve if my nation needed me. Well.. I did ,I joined the Armed Forces but thats me.
