well all i can say is that if you put an STI or WRX impreza and a mini whatever with an a-series engine on a race track, the mini's going to be sh#t on.

I wonder what the break even BHP would be for the Mini on a bumpy little back road the width of your average garden path?

HAHA, well said.
I remember a few years ago i was in the car with my uncle in his Clio 182 and we got pi**ed on by a ford anglia!
I believe it was the one shows on Used car roadshow with the zetec engine in it....
Still, was quite funny at the time!

it wouldn't make a difference, any fast modern car especially an impreza with rally pedigree would still beat a mini on a bumpy back road

I remember being soundly beaten in my Clubby when I had a mildly tuned 1275 by an old chap and his wife in their Daewoo Espero 2.0 GLX ;D

Turns out that they had a very similar engine to the Cavalier GSi (basically a C20XE).

I felt silly.

don't be silly, even back roads are wide enough for modern cars. think about it, all manners of agricultural vehicles use them

:dontgetit:

Both bring back memories that I'd rather I didn't have! I was young and stupid and had a Mini that I thought was the fastest thing in world, when in reality it had about 65bhp but sounded like a racing car

And yeah, the old chap must have had a little smile of satisfaction knowing that he'd wiped the floor with some young boy racer in a Mini, and fair play to him :P

I never knew traffic lights were for starting races, I always thought they were for controlling the flow of traffic.

Im pretty sure everyone gets the picture that a scooby will beat a mini. It could have been running on rubbish fuel which tends to make the sti's go pop.
Im still pretty sure he doesn't deserve to be burned at the stake. I managed to get the jump on a lambo from the lights before. That was victory enough for me. Its called a 6ft race. And i know it was a lovely looking lady and i know she prob wasn't even looking but it was still a mini victory. Lol.
On the other hand been beaten by a transit and the bloke had his dog in the passanger seat. Lol
