Just to keep you updated. Still nothing further done to the shell (that i know of) or other bits i was working on as i havent had time unfortunetely.

But I have just bought something for the mini which i planned on getting one day but havent as it was always to expensive but i think i got for the cheapest I ever could. Will take 2-3 weeks to arrive then I'll put a pic. A clue though; its red

Cheers

Right well made a minispares order this week for some bits that I need to further the project a bit more. It arrived today but forgot to get some pics when I opened it, sorry

Anyways ive got;

-Water Pump without the Bypass (best to replace it whilst the engine is being stripped according to Calver)
-Petrol Tank Location Plate for 5.5 gallon tank for the Left Hand Side
-Thermostat
-Oil Switch
-Temperature Transmitter
-Performance Clutch Seal
-Gearbox Gasket Set

I also got a Tank Mount for the left-hand but since they only do a right-hand I thought the same difference like the Location Plate but it has an angle on it which wouldn't allow it to work, does anyone know what else is available to do this or is it going to have to be custom?

Ive also got some parts coming from mars red mini to shine up the engine bay a bit and also some steel vents leading to the top dash rail.

Will hopefully be going to the bodyshop this weekend since ive got some parts to give them so will get some pics whilst im there.

Hi carboy001
I believe you can get the petrol tank mount from M Machine in Darlington

Now today it was good to finally get down to the bodyshop after 2 months now to see the shell. Really pleased with the progress and the quality of the work can't recommend these lads enough so far! But they have found some 'surprises' whilst they have been working on it. The person that had the shell before britaxcooper did the bodywork on it and well it wasnt the best from the sounds of it; they tried putting my doors on the shell and well the gaps were all wrong and apparently on one side you could put your fist through! This has resulted in a new cill and then seam welding the rear quarter (these are yet to be done). For the spray I was advised that for the best result it would be best to strip back the primer, so they have started the process and have found that it just covers the old paint! I hope thats the last of the surprises but the old paint not fully rid of it is worrying.

They have also attached on the bonnet to the front end as I decided it would be best to add more strength to it but still shows the bodyseams which looks good. The front metal body has also been braced to add a bit more strength.

Pictures!

Thats up-to-date now, hopefully I'll be able to spend some time on the engine soon but its going to be slow with uni and work now but we'll see.

Thanks for looking

Thanks for the comments.

Luke, the brace bars are from minispares like yours but the bodyshop didnt like the way they sat on the outside of the inner arch so they bent them in, they look gooood.

Bit of an update.

Still not made anything as regards my own progress for the build but its cold and I still have university work so thats my excuse :D

Bought another set of alloys though off sprinzel71 on here. There another set of GB alloys, only really wanted one for a spare but on ebay for one it was ridiculous so not to much difference to buy another four. There in spot-on condition so really happy with them but two will be getting powdercoated as spares with my others that are getting powdercoated also. Took them down to the garage without getting a picture but you know what they look like >_< Also bought some Triumph Spitfire trackrod end for the negative camber on the front, works out cheaper than buying 'competition' trackrod ends from minispares/minisport and are exactly the same thing.

Today anyway I got invited down to Ashley James Interiors after an email I sent Stuart enquirying about full interiors. Top bloke and brilliant outfit, really know there stuff and advised me on all my ideas, especially my seats, originally I planned on getting some Cobra Cubs but looking at them in the flesh really went against it but they advised some original mk2 reclining buckets, look really nice, so thats my choice. Two hours later there after a good look round and throwing round ideas of what I could do and putting together my full interior I ordered it! Full leather interior with everything I want (with yet a decision to be made on a boot lining kit), advised them of when I planned to be ready for it roughly and they will store it and fit when it comes round to it.

Really excited about it now.

Thanks for reading.

Chris

Thanks BadgerBaiter.

Really looking forward to getting the mini back now and just cracking on with the build, just need to finish building back up the engine for it.

Hopefully another package should arrive soon with something rather cool, will let you know when it arrives, been waiting for 3 weeks now for it to be ready, should be worth it though >_<
