Just had a read through your thread and wow love it!!! :shades: :shades: :shades: :shades: :shades: :shades:

Thanks Rich, much appreciated. Doubt you love it as much as me though haha.

I have just read this all the way through as well. A very nice looking car with some tasty bits on it, must have cost a fair whack all in. It certainly looks worth it though. With the progress at the start, I thought it was going to be finished by 20 pages!

Hopefully you will have it all done and back on the road soon, a great inspirational project for many people.

Well done.

Thanks for the comment Black Ghost. Yeah it has cost a fair whack to say the least but oh well this one is for keeps, can't afford to sell it haha. I'm more than happy witht he finished product though, looks mega and very happy where I've made mods to it and adapted different era's of the mini. Yeah I would be hoping that the mini would be finished by 20 pages too! Unfortunately work and uni work leave very little time for much else at the moment but slow and steady wins the race!

Anyone got an idea with regards to the checkstraps?

Cheers
Chris

Helloooo,

Update time! Still not got all my pics though unfortunately.

Been finishing off the rear end a bit more which has basically included putting the hanging numberplate on along with the numberplate itself.

Since I've decided to go back to original pedal setup stevede has kindly offered to refurb my master cylinders, so hopefully I should get them back very soon. I've also had to source another pedal box frame as mine has gone walkies (but not my actual pedals) so I've got one from Dale off of here along with a couple of door checkstraps I was after :)

Now I'm thinking of painting my pedal box matt black as it's hid away and won't require wiping down as much. Now with the door checkstraps I'm not sure whether to paint them black or red? What does everyone else think, I know it's quite detailed but I don't want to match the body colour as it'll just show up the grease and dirt and bug me to no end!

Now moving on to my recent purchases which is a bit different from the norm. For the original pedal setup I required a master cylinder plate, was contemplating a smiffy one but not to keen on to much ultra shiney stuff, I like aluminium stuff and then stevede sent me an email which cost me over £100 once I was done!

Posted Image

I was the first to get one ordered I believe which is good :)

Then that led me on to getting these!

Posted Image

Very nice stuff indeed, glad I;ve gone back tot he original setup now :)

That's all I've got for now at the moment but hopefully a bit more will come next year :)

Thanks for looking and reading my babble.

Cheers
Chris

Chris you're such a tart !!

Actually. I might have to get some of those for myself :D

Cylinders are now cleaned, de rusted & painted - I'll pop a pic up tomorrow. Just need to rebuild now with the new seals.

I'll book another day with you soon

Cheers

Steve

Haha Steve, your hardly one to talk with your attraction for LED's in your mini!

Yeah I know you were looking at them, they told me they were making a presence again at the Bingley show.

Thanks for that Steve and yes we most certainly will :proud:

Cheers

Thanks Craig, means a lot your comment. Next summer hopefully it'll pottering around everywhere!

The door catches work brilliantly on the front flip and there very discreet so I'm very happy with them. At the front it has like push in sockets to hold it down, not sure exactly what there called as my bodyshop sourced them and fitted them.

I got the latches from Europa Spares

What clean work and attention to detail. This is the opposite of my 'functional' rebuild.

This Rust Bullet paint is pricey but seems to get great recommendations. It'll be interesting to hear your views.

All the best

Thanks Hugh, I do like to try my best with it, the little things make it for me, I'm easily bugged haha.

The Rust Bullet was recommended by the body shop guys, they rated it very highly but like you say it was costly, they applied it using their spray equipment so got very good coverage. I did previously buy the POR15 but they body shop guys had some bad experiences with it on their own projects so I decided to steer clear of it. Basically if you don't follow the process perfectly with all their products it will cause more damage then protect.

Wow great thread chris just picked this up.

Quick one though about the release brackets on the flip front. I'm doing a removable front on my van, would these work as well and how do you attach / open them?

Any of the brackets attached to the A-panel at all so that I can thathem how you do it.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Matt,

Depends how your going about doing the removable front but I would have thought so as it's matter of pushing the clip and it pops out. You could even perhaps use the same connection I have with the poppers (thats what I call them because I don't know what they are haha) at the bottom and just pop it off when required.

With regards to the mounting of it, it's simply a bracket attached on to the a-panel, I have a pic of it somewhere on this thread.

Cheers
Chris
