I'm not looking forward to putting the wiring loom back in (it looks like a set of entrails...).

Looks ace - I like the wheels. I started my project last week (1972 estate, same wood-effect strips - anyone know where to get them restored?). Blue/Teal is good - some pics on my project page.
I'm not looking forward to putting the wiring loom back in (it looks like a set of entrails...).
the wiring loom is surprisingly simple (compared to later minis), what i'm not looking forward is removing the old cruddy loom wrap to put a new clean one over it (and rooting a couple new wires in - electric fuel pump wire, tach wire, back up lights etc). seems they installed the loom, then they sprayed that tar-like sound insulation goo over everything...
here's some sandblasting action pictures. i'm glad i didnt go there to do it myself like i was supposed to... me, and my asthma

cant wait for it to be a single color...

yeah 10/10 on the seats! is it nearly ready for colour!!?
not quite yet, i'm hoping by the end of next week - fingers crossed. Most of the shell is sealed, the engine bay is primered and the bottom is ready for gravelguard (not sure if you have that in the uk - some sort of underseal). i'm going there tomorrow (easter holiday) to work on it. have to remove the gunk/sound insulation inside the bonnet so they can paint it. i'm also going to try to fit my roll cage again.
speaking of which, i've got a question for those who have bolted in rear roll cage; for the 2 front legs, since there's 2 panels with a small gap between them at that spot, did the floor "squish" a lot when you bolted it?
cheers!

Seats look excellent - where did you get them retrimmed? (do you mind me asking if they set you back a lot?) - I've misplaced(?!?!) my rear seat and am now trying desperately to find a replacement one, but it's unlikely to be in the same style so I'm looking at changing the whole interior trim colour.
i got them reupholstered by a guy in a small town about 45 minutes north of Montreal, which is probably not much use for you

had lots of fun scraping the crap off of the bonnet:

front end, plate brackets removed (we got no front plates in QC)

bottom, removing the clips for the brake line and battery cable as these will be rooted inside:

and the rear roll cage mount:

i sandblasted the entire inside floors last monday, along with the roof gutter. (no pics of that)
the mini should be a single color by the end of the week!!!

finally all a single color! this is the primer, with a darker over spray for when they sand it (to see imperfections)

this is supposed to be Yukon Gray, same LQS code as the mini but found under " LandRover".
it seems darker than what i'm used to see on minis, but then again i've only seen them on pictures, never in the flesh.

does seem darker... but i like it!!! bet you can't wait!! i can't! hahaha!
yeah, i'm not going to try to match the right color, i like it like that. dark hot gray is what i wanted (by hot i mean there's a hint of red/brown in it, instead of a cool gray which would have blue in it.)
you bet i cant wait, but its ok, it leaves the city time to fix the roads... with the temperature changes from -20 to +20ºc in a couple of weeks, you have no idea how much it damages the asphalt. the tiny 10" wheels dont stand a chance with the size of potholes we have. the car should be home mid-may, so by mid june it should be road worthy!
cheers

my SRacer rear sway bar just came in! if you're in the US or Canada, try Great British Cars, they're much cheaper than Minimania, and much easier to deal with than trying to get a hold of the actual SRacer guy!
