I was actually pleasntly surprised to find duplex gears, lightened and balanced flywheel, straight cut drop gears (i knew they were in there because of the noise lol), the rods and caps were stamped up and there is a kent cam in there too! So overall I was pleased with what I found !!

Not had chance to work on the mini because I went to Le-Mans on Wednesday and only got back today.
Did manage to pick up a flywheel from MED though.![]()
Oh yeah, its the first verto lightweight flywheel of this type from MED off the production line![]()
It just needs a little finnishing, i.e the little lip needs filing off to make it smooth.
enjoy

Thanks, I couldn't believe the weight difference when I compared it to my lightened one I removed off my engine today!!

The one I took out is lightened and balanced, I cant wait to compare it to see if there is much diference in 'pick up', although it might be a bit hard to compare with a turbo bolted on

A bit of bad news today
There were some nasty marks on the piston skirts when I removed them, some due to swarf in the oil that has obviously picked up on the pistons. I spoke to MED about it and showed him the pistons. He said the bore will need honing, but a rebore won't be required. So I took the block to him today at lunchtime. I couldn't take the cam or crank out because I didn't have an Airgun at home to remove the big timing gear nut, so I left it all in. When Lee at MED had a look at it he said the duplex gears are just the cheap cast ones and that they could do with being uprated to a vernier one for spot on cam timing as its going to be turbo. He also said its worthwhile changing the oil pump as its stripped down, and the big ends and mains. (i was going to change the big ends anyway). He also said the cam isn't suitable for a turbo engine as its got too much exhaust and too much overlap, so basically the forced air will go out the exhaust when they are both open together. So thats an expensive list

Mate do yourself a favour and stop posting soo much crap you know nothing about although you do give us a good laugh... what do you mean by hardly ever match?? they are two totally different cams for different applications so they will NEVER match
