I've got these, my engine seems too sit a teeny bit higher with them. Also a little tip, put some sort of lubricant on them when fitting the pin, makes it a little easier.

Looking good, im very jealous of your turbo setup.

Thanks for the tip  I'll do that, should stop it seizing in there in the future too.

Not too far off now with the turbo bits, just a few more big bits to get.

awesome >_< be nice to see it finished now

Thanks :w00t: Hopefully not too far in the future.

32 pages of porn!

been reading through the whole thread thats such a nice project

look forward to seeing the end piece!

Thanks for the kind words, hopefully make it to a couple of the shows :ermm:

Thanks >_<, the vac take offs were from a scrap Saab 9000 we had in at work. They were M10 thread. I think bleed nipples would be fine, if you just cut the tapered bit off the bottom?

Not much done really over the weekend, tried to sort out a brake fluid leak where the banjo bolts onto the caliper, cant get a good seal between the washers and caliper. The metal is a bit pitted, so struggling to get it smooth enough to seal. Also cant get a descent pedal because of the weep. Struggling to bleed the O/S caliper on my own, as its a two man job....

I've swapped the exhaust housing from my turbo for a slightly smaller one off a renault 5 turbo T2, as my housing has a different elbow flange to the usual Renault one, so wouldn't fit the mirage manifold without a custom elbow / flange making which I dont have the skills or equipment to do :D. This housing will spool the turbo quicker and lower down in the rev range, and its still good for upto around 200hp, not that I'm going to be near there.

So I sent my housing off to someone on Turbominis who is going to use it on his mini. Should recieve mine in the next week or so as he is on holiday.

Also helped Dan on his mini on Sunday, so hopefully he will update his as its not been updated for about a month.

edit : I took loads of pics of the min on saturday, taking them to show someone who used to specialise in mini bodywork in Burton on the Wolds, hopefully he will stick to his word and do it, fingers crossed. :(

I've been off work since Wednesday but not done as much as I'd have liked.

I got it back on all 4 wheels and pushed it outside so I could sweep out the floor.

Posted Image

Stained the floor with brake fluid :)

Posted Image

I wired in the new gauges, and soldered the connections for the other gauges that I put in before, as I used bullet connectors before.

Posted Image

Note the position of the red toggle switch in the switch panel for the electric fan  Also got the cowling around the instruments which haven't been on for ages. Fitted some new screws to hold it on nice and securely.

Put the rev counter back in, and routed the wiring out of site, alot better than before. Not wired in yet though as its got to be linked into the Megajolt.

Posted Image

The AFR gauge powered up, just needs the signal wire connecting to the lambda sensor.

Posted Image

Got my new headlights through the post today. The crystal Halogen type. Need to get a couple of plastic bowls as the old ones are broken.

Posted Image

Also toying with the idea of mounting the MJ on the dash, and drilling a couple of holes for the wires and boost pipe.

Posted Image

Let me know what you think :errr:

Garage looks a lot bigger without the mini in it :) caustic soda is good for lifting spills on concrete, but careful, it's lethal stuff.

Looks good, the toggle switch replaced the fluid test button?

Is that a wide or narrow band sensor? Was it you who saw my gauge and decided too get one, or am i making that up?

Either way its very very handy piece of kit too have.

Yes it replaces the fluid tester, both wires broke off the reservoir cap a while ago :).

Its narrowband unfortunately, but better than nothing. Well I saw the gauge on ebay, bought it, then posted a pic in here and S-F-M posted back saying you had one :errr:

Thanks for the tip Luke, and yes its a fair size really without the Mini in there and when its tidy  Still need to take that massive pile of junk to the tip thats piled up on the left near the door.

nice progress wiring always takes longer than expected but worth it when you dont have to keep repairing bits

Haha, erm not that much really. Most of it is old engine bits that are shot, and loads of foam that was stuck everywhere. The rest of it is just general rubbish really. I have got some standard headlights, and a spare bonnet though lol.

Thanks :teehee:

Yes you're right, it did take longer than expected, partly due to dodgy wiring on a brand new gauge which baffled me for a little bit!

Thanks for all the nice comments people! >_<

Yes I'll definately be doing some videos :dontgetit: It shouldn't take long to run in, as I do a 30 mile round trip to work and back every day, plus all the extra I'll be doing once its back!

The dash was made by the previous owner, he was kitting out narrow boats at the time for a job, so he said he made it himself and covered it with leather.

Looks a bit different now though with the gauges in and with a normal CD player instead of the flip out screen it used to have in.

So here is a few pics of the dash illumination from my wiring at the weekend.

I thought about it, and I wired all the gauge lights into the same earth, which means its a series circuit (or series parallel) so I'm going to re wire the earths to seperate earth points which will reduce the total resistance in the circuit and give me brighter gauge lights! :genius:

Posted Image

They look really dim here, but they aren't as bad as they look :dontgetit:

Posted Image

New headlight fitted to the drivers side. Blue sidelight bulbs come with them, but they are illegal and a bit chavvy

Posted Image

my favourite gauge  ;)

Brightness comparrison, new lights on the right  (main beam)
