Couple Of 1275gt Questions...

My current thinking is that D20S is a standard clubman number and D20D is the 1275GT - however this may have changed with the 'Mk2' 12" wheeled GT.
It would add up with my shell as I know my '73 GT was reshelled in the early 80s into a NOS clubman shell. I also have reference photos of a known to be very original early GT showing D20D.
I believe the chassis/VIN number for a 12" wheel GT should start XE2D2
Unfortunately GTs do not have the information and records available that the early Mk1s, Coopers and Cooper S's do.

The later GTs are much harder to identify/question anyway. The earlier ones (10" wheel) had quite a few differences on the shell over the early clubman but there was very little different about the later ones.

No front GT badge fitted to this year of car. What does the plate which you are reading the D.. number off look like?
If its a normal non official looking plate then during a respray the commision plate could have been lost and someone has just made one up going from what the logbook says?
Linky to data
It's a normal unofficial looking plate, yeah. Just a rectangular piece of metal with the characters stamped into it.
Like I say I have no reason to doubt it's genuine apart from this, everything else that is there should be and everything matches, apart from the front GT badge is missing but spots have been added so it mightve been taken off/lost at that point.
