Just to let anyone know that might be interested, im making some supercharger manifolds to sell on one of which ill be using on my 1380 S. The manifold is nearly at the completion stage and ive already started making jigs to make further ones... the manifold will be alot better flowing than ones ive seen on the market and will put pics up for anyone who is thinking about doing one soon
Also i would be selling the manifolds for aorund the £175 -£200 mark to see how well the sell and will also be makin the intake pipe to suit but as far as im aware ones that are out there will fit... >_<

I'm just about to start building my 1293 engine now. I wont be able to afford a blower for a while. Is it possible to build it to the right lower compression and still run ok? Or will it run like a dog until i put the blower on?

Cheers

Tom

im planning on doing the exact same thing
i have the 1293 already but the head is stripped off,
i dont know if i should get the head sorted to make it lower compression or get a decompression plate

i need to do more research >_<

From what i've researched it seems its better to have the head work done as a decompression plate is a kind of "quick fix" solution. However it would seem that from the people i have spoken to with decomp plates haven't had any trouble with it. I guess it's down to what you can afford. But i'm no expert.

as far as lowering the compression goes from what ive heard its always best to take it from the engine its self first i.e pistons and head. but to lower the compression to a suitable level you might not have enough meat in your head to do so if your using say flat top or small dish pistons.. it is possible but depends on your engine spec. ive gone for 13cc pistons with 26cc's worked out of my head giving me around the 8 1/2 mark for compression

Has anyone used magajolt with a charger setup? I'm interested in doing this but was wondering about the crank pully?

I ran a supercharged 1275 cooper S for 10 years (recently expired)
Performance was excellent about 25% more power and very tractable.
Mine was an old Shorrocks kit, quite difficult to fit in, if you are using a modern kit I guess it will be easier.
Don't use a 'wild cam' - high lift rockers are good.
Get your distributor recalibrated to suit
Make sure your cooling system is in good order
