Rescued from page 4. Amazing stuff, this really is shaping up to be fantastic when it's finished.

Saw your little interview in this months Mini Mag. it wasn't until i read the second to last question that I realised the whole thing was about a project i have already subscribed to on TMF ;)

Keep up the mini saving! you're doing a grand job!

John.

Ted

Are you restoring that Mk 1 or just building a new shell one panel at a time :(

Fantastic work

Note to self - buy shares in the company that make welding wire soon

Keep it up

J

Sorry, nothing much has happened due to other commitments

Rebuilt the gooon last year and the house has had major work, new bathroom, kitchen, rewire, re-plaster etc

Money permitting I'll try and finish the car in 2011

just read through this all and you worked extrmely fast in the time you were working on it, and absolutely brill work aswell, i need to get a move on with my mini now, and i wish i was able to weld like you and when you have the time and money to finish it, it will look brilliant, i wonder if i can finish mine before you finish yours now, but brilliant project and hopefully you get it done

Things are moving along with Ted, although not body work as I needed a rest form the grinder

I've finally decided on the direction the engine is taking and dropped off the bits with Brett @ www.brettsimsmotorsport.co.uk yesterday for machining to begin

998 Pre A+ block
+60 Pistons
Kent 266
Ported 12G295 with 3 angled 31/27 valves and hardened seats
Lightened balanced bottom end
Lightened flywheel
Siamese sequential fuel injection with wasted spark
Twin 38mm throttle bodies
Hybrid magic wand gearbox with cross pin diff

I've built the megasquirt ecu with the mods for 4 channel injector drivers, 2 ignition drivers and the siamese code and await some parts to commence testing on a spare 850 engine I have lying around

Why did you deciede to cut up and change the full (early type) front panel rather than repair it?

The panel is completly shot, it looks better in the pics than in reality. I have kept all the bits so that I can modify a later one to look like the original

Fair enough.

I have a simular dilema with a 61 Van front panel which is mainly dented on the pressed grille section.

Keep the progress going

Dent's can often be dealt with, rust, newspaper and filler alas have to be removed :)
