Time for an update!

Been working on the Mini flat out for the past couple of days doing all the little jobs needed for the MOT which take forever! Went for the MOT today and it past with flying colours, no advisories either :), when we where putting the Mini on the ramp for the inspection the tester said somthing along the lines of ''what the hell is wrong with the front wheels?!'' because of the camber.. which was pretty funny :(. Also got 12months tax on it to from the post office for free, ah the joys of a historic car!

Mini handels well, but the power side of it was a bit dissapointing! due to the dizzy was ott for a standard cam so changed it back to a std points with vac advance, and the carb needles where too much as they where jetted for a 1275, but all sorted now with the correct ones brought from moss, and it runs fine (still not enough oomph for my liking though!) but will probley install the sw10, duplex, and ful race spec head with 37x31rimflows in the next couple of weeks, will be over cammed but should be lairy to drive though!!

Few things over the past couple of days; wing mirrors on, fuel guage sender, dash drilled in, no plate stickers on, exhaust raised, spare 10'' wheel in boot, steering wheel (that self cancels), arches re laqured, wiper washers working, everthing tighten'd up + all polished and windows cleaned.

See you at L2B!! :w00t:

Havent really done much.. but was a nice day so thought i'd get some piccies of it outside with the V8,
Made L2B no probs at all, but think it has a high FD as it cruise's at 70 with ease, so will be one extreme to th other as ive decided on a 3.6 with sc/cr box on the engine build. Also put the pressed plates back on insted of the stickers as it more suits the car imo.

Few things need to be done,
- Pulls to left (wheel alignment out)
- Windscreen Washers don't work
- Carb Bowl hits bulk head (either cut bulkhead or buy adjustable engine steady)
- Mirrors about to fall off, need to be screwed in again

Apart from that its behaving its self, drives lovely & the ride isent to harsh (although it may be a little too low! bloody speed humps!)

:o
I LOVE your car! :P
That looks really nice, loving the retro style ;)
I'm thinking of a slightly lighter blue for my '72, with black and carbon fibre bits instead of chrome but I really don't know now! Yours looks so nice blue and chrome!
Out with the photoshop I think...

Thanks for all the kind comments, much appreciated!!

Havent really done anything on the much on the Mini, but my SC/CR gearbox is done with new RPH bearings throughout, thanks to my old man, Just need to fit the speedo drive and windage tray from Paul W, The spec on the box will be; 4Sync SC/CR Clubman Gearset, X-Pin Diff, Centre Oil Pickup, 3.64FD & Paul Wigginton Windage Tray (std 1:1 drops), Should go well with the rest of the engine once its built up :dontgetit:

all the engine components are at Classic & Modern Engine Serivces at the moment, Block is being drilled for 11studs, Bored + Honed to +0.80 to give 1061cc, Cut pockets in block for 31ex valve - 3.5mm deep (Gives me just over 1mm to play with when using a SW10 by my calculations), Reface block surface, Entire roatating assembly balenced inc damper, primary gear etc.., new pistons on rods, crank reground to 0.10' 0.10', and also a light skim on the head, The C/R will be around 12.3:1 but ill be able to run Shell V-Max 100octane and hopefully be okay, but ill try to work it out when assembling.

heres the spec for the engine.. -1061cc A+ 11Stud Pocketed Block,
-Prepared By Classic & Modern- +80 Mega Type Flat Top MSC Pistons- Weber 40 Running 34Chokes, Top Mount Throttle Linkage- 5'' Manifold, Short Rampipes + ITG Filter- 12G1805,Swiftune ex Mini7 'FULL RACE' Spec Head - 37x31 Rimflow Valves, 30* Seats, Bronze Guides, DV Springs, Steel Retainers, Pushrod Holes Sleeved,14.0cc In Head, Huge Ports, Block Refaced, - Swiftune SW10 Camshaft- Swiftune Alloy Duplex- 1.3:1 MiniSport Roller Tip Rockers- Maniflow LCB & 1.75 single box- MED RACE Spec Leccy Dizzy 286+, No Vac, Lightend Dizzy Dog- MED Lightend Rods- MED Wedged & Backdrilled Crank, Ground 0.10' 0.10'- ARP Rod Bolts + ARP 11 Stud Head Bolt Kit

Little update, got most of the components back from Classic & Modern Engine Services yesterday apart from the crank, rods and pistons because they thought we didnt want the crank reground and the pistons fitted to the rods bit of a wasted journey up to Bracknel but oh well.... should be ready for wednesday to collect also getting the main & big end bearings from them to.

The pockets in the block are about 3.1mm deep which should be deep enough for my cam and rockers.. also got the block drilled & tapped for 11studs, bored & honed to +80 giving 1061cc looks a lovely finish, + refaced, Dident need new cam bearings.

Got my head checked over and they said everything is fine luckily, skimmed a little to, its already on 14cc!! god knows what its on now.. hopefully i wont have any problems with it but i think its on its last legs as even said that its so thin between the head surface and waterways when they was skimming it (have a look at the pics as you'll see what i mean), shame really as its a 12g1805 cooper 's' mk3 head! Has a good history with it, was used in Mini Sevens, Brought on ebay a while back got it at a decent price to ;), pretty big spec.. ex Mini7 'FULL RACE' Spec Head, 37x31 Rimflow Valves, 30* Seats, Bronze Guides, DV Springs, Steel Retainers, Pushrod Holes Sleeved, 14.0cc In Head, Huge Ports, should work nicely with a weber 40 and 5'' Manifold... hmmm. watch this space :(

Got the whole rotating assembly balenced to, they even put the primary gear on with it all ;o! Looks like quite a lot came out of the damper which is good as i was in two minds about getting it balenced, glad I did now, should make it a little smoother to. Also got my 1.3:1 Roller Rockers From MiniSport

Havent done anything on the Mini its just been sitting outside looking sorry for itself, should be coming in the workshop once the engine has been built, although I still need to buy so much still.. Im selling my Twin HS2'S rebuilt by burlen couple years ago + janspeed inlet & itg S/S filter if anyone is looking for some.

Some piccies....
