Ace build mate, looking top notch and the engine build looks tasty, hopefully be doing one myself once the mini is rebuilt :D

Little detail I notcied though was that yove changed the rear plate to metal for sticker, good choice ;)

I would be leaving that nice a mini outside in the wet and cold though :(

Got the crank, rods & pistons back from the machinest yestersday also with the competiton mains, big ends & thrusts to match, The mains have been ground 0.20' big ends 0.10' & thrusts 0.10, really did needed to be ground but not really suprised by how much was taken off as it was being thrashed at 6500rpm in second gear most of the time when racing. but could have done with more oil changes which i dont think helped as when taking the crank apart from the block the centre main bearing had picked up quite alot and the bearing was all bronze!! and when taking the gearbox apart there was alot of swarf. Just hope the endfloat will be OK with the new thrusts! Nearly had a heart attack when i heard the total bill but they did do a fair bit of work, now have everything back from there, + nearly have all the parts for the rebuild now just need... hif44/gasket set/rocker post spacers/lightend followers but also waiting for the safetykleen machine to be changed in the workshop as its filthy! so in a couple weeks I can start rebuilding it!! :) few pics...

Do you mind me asking how much it cost to get your crank done? MED wasn't it?

Looking good now dude, good luck with the engine build :)

Thanks, I think the crank cost £120 for it to be wedged & backdrilled and the pistons where lightend on the big ends slightly which was an extra £60 but not to sure, the regrind cost £70 from classic & modern excluding the whole assembly being balenced, i'd reccomend getting the crank worked on as theres a decent amount of weight that can be removed! glad i had mine done :).

bring on the small bore dyno shoot out :-

Ahh right, so all the other work was done at MED bar the re-grind? Ive got a spare crank that really needs that lot doing to it as my engine has the capability to rev well past 7k, which is pretty much all the standard crank is good for :).

Thought i'd post a couple pics of the crank now in the block, decided on not fitting the centre main strap mainly because i cant be ass'd on getting the main cap machined, but hopefully it will be okay without.. The new thrusts which are +10 where fine and have a decent amout of endfloat of 4thou which I was happy about! also fitted the oil pump with new gasket & primed it up with oil, need to put the rings on the pistons then can start putting them in. then it will start looking like an engine again lol, Hopefully it will be in the Mini & running in a months time!

Heres what happens with heavy wind and heavy plastic! :teehee: Will come out with compound but its so annoying! hopefully the mini will be coming in the workshop in the next week, its looks a really bad state being left outside for so long

No updates yet on the engine :), Got the Mini in the workshop on friday but the brakes go to the floor, but it has been outside for the past 2months so could be a seized piston, hopefully its not the master but will be bleed again. Its a bit ticky getting it on the ramp though as its a bit to low! few other things need to be sorted like the tracking, wipers, blowing exhaust, & fit rev counter + ill fit the 1.3rockers and the engine thats in it might give me an extra 2 or 3bhp lol. My driving test is on wednesday, Hopfully I'll pass so i can start driving it to college on the thursday!! wish me luck! :D
