noticed your 1.3 Roller Rockers are in the classifieds?
any reason why you didn't use them on the build?

Past couple of weeks ive been building the 1061cc.... well i should have been!! ill quickly just say what happend.. basicly i started building it about 3weeks ago and went to put the pistons/rods in the block... done everything as you should, arrows facing the front etc. so fitted one of them and found that two of the pistons had been fitted 180* degrees out so when you torqued it up with the cap the rod hits the block due to the offset of the rods!! so basicly they f*%ked it up!! And as for me passing my test ive been in a rush to get a engine in the mini asap because I took the old one out a while back (didnt like the 3.2FD around town) so i then had to build up another engine using the 998block that was out of it originaly but with the crank, fly, cam etc that i brought for the 1061cc. (long story short lol)
So i got the 998 built up with the following parts..most of what where going to be used on the 1061 apart from the head.
998A+
- Twin HS2s, Ported Janspeed Inlet, ITG S/S Filter
- Janspeed Modified Head \'Stage 3 Spec\'
- Swiftune Billet SW10 Camshaft
- Swiftune Alloy Duplex
- MED Wedged & Backdrilled Crank
- Maniflow LCB & 1.75\'\' Single Box Exhaust
- Lucas Sports Coil + Lumenition Leads
- Isky-Type Lightend Followers
- ARP 9Stud Head Bolt Kit
- Competition Oversized Lead Bigend & Main Bearings + Thrusts
Clutch;
- M/S Pre-Engaged Ultralight Flywheel
- MED Lightend Backplate
- Orange Diaphram
- AP Bonded Rally Friction Plate
- Full Rotating Assembly Dynamicly Balenced By Classic & Modern
Gearbox;
- Rebuilt by Heathrow Transmissions
- MiniSpares 4Sync SC/CR Clubman Gearset
- MiniSpares X-Pin Diff
- 3.64 Final Drive
- Centre Oil Pickup
- KAD Quickshift
Got it all bolted in and running yesterday.. apart from a few troubles, the engine wouldnt sit in the subframe and was so tight! but got there in the end. also changing the start from inertia to pre engaged was a bit of a wiring night mare but completed it now. Once me and my dad had done all that it was time to fire it up! i was a little nervous as it was my first engine build and had thoughts running through my head have a tightend that up enough, or have i timed the cam up correctly... first we turned the enegine over without the plugs and waited for the oil pressure light to go out... seemed like forever but went out *phew* then timed the med electronic dizzy so its firing on no1. then went to turn the key and it didnt want to fire! so then took one of the plugs out to look for a spark but wasent very strong! so then went in the standard points dizzy, and then look at the plugs.. all where wet, so heated them up and put them back in... by this point i was pretty worried!! so tryed to fire it a second time and it burst into life!! think we mixed up the wires on the coil from the dizzy, but anyway it lives! then set went about running the cam in at 2000revs for 15mins.

new engine

Got insured on it today, and been driving it for the past couple hours, ive got to say the sw10 and 3.6FD are excellent!!! I dont see why people moan about big cams in small bores *stop being so old people*?? Power comes in from about 3000rpm and goes all the way to about 7k has a real kick! (has got more there though, just dont want it to go bang as ive only just built it lol) and with the sc/cr box i can do about 50mph in first gear! most of the time i keep forgetting what gear im in because how long first is, i wouldnt change any thing about the engine... the whine from the gears is porn.. although people have been giving me looks, cant think why lol. all in all its great!

now onto the bad news.......
It was getting dark and i thought id put my head lights on.. and there is nothing!! side and main both are dead although both the indicators work, hopefully it will be somthing obivous like a dodgy connection, demister is useless think the matrix has gone, seats are so uncomfortable can feel the spings in your back!, dosnt really like to idle below 1500rpm, gets a bit of a dog so will need to bring the idle up a little, think its already on 1400 but dosent bother me. slight oil leak coming from the speedo drive, clutch is okay.. a little tricky with that plate but im getting used to it. main thing is leaving it outside on the street, im a little worried about.. ive taken the king lead off it but will defiantly need to get a imobliser, as i dont feel confident about it being left!
cheers.

"Classic & Modern Engine Services" - aren't they the ones in Great Hollands housing estate? I've heard they are the nuts by a few people... Good job they're only 2 miles away from me

Thanks
havent updated this for ages!!
Heres a peak of how i got home from college last month, 998 race engine in a road car isnt a great idea to be honest! two words; oil pressure oh and lightend clutch assembly, although it was a fun engine for 4months lol! ill update this fully when i get enough time as there has been a lot going on with it since december.

i have a similar mainly black interior but was debating about whether a black headlining would be too dark
