This thread could really do with moving now! :) We're back to the A-series....
Edit:
And incase you wanted to know how far down the Vaux conversion we got....

Oh! We've moved! I was going to add - for anyone wondering, that's a Fiat Cinquecento radiator mouted with an 8" Tripac fan.

Looks good Icey, shame teh vaux conversion didn't get finished (but then I'm in the boat too). Are you sticking with the clubby front?

We've still got the frame so we can always revisit the Vauxhall conversion at a later date but not until I've done a few bits to the A-series. Yes, still using the Clubman front not sure about the splitter now though....

Quick update, hoses clamped and custom header tanks mounted (that was more difficult than it looks!).

Had the engine run up to temperature this weekend and the plumbing works really well, very pleased with the capacity of the Cinquecento radiator. The real test will be in summer and/or on the track but so far so good.
Anyway, while running it had a very noticeable rattle from the timing chain. Open it up and, oh yes, a slack chain and a well worn tensioner.....
Time for that duplex upgrade then....

Upgrade complete - twice. Always remember to flatten out the lump in the casing....and don't leave the oil thrower on the work bench

Hands off the greasy bits recently, effort has been to get the electricals complete. First was the sub-loom for the electric fan which is pretty dull so no photos (although as I'm not using the dim/dip relay, I did cunningly reuse some of the original loom).
Next is what's going behind the dash. We've got a fibreglass dash going in and I really didn't want to use the original rocker switches (not that I have any) or air-craft switches (which I do have). I originally planned to make a completely custom loom and controls but as times gone on I've wound that right back. Instead I'll be using the momentary switches we have from the original plan but grafting them into - via some DIY circuit boards - the original loom.
And this is stage one - relays mounted ('proper' relay holders are ~£20 a pop, sod that, I've got some aluminium angle and a drill) and circuit boards made.
It's all been tested on the bench and works well. Only components that might need changing are the little radial caps (you can just about make them out infront of the transistors) as they dictate how quickly you can toggle the output.

Thanks! :) The Samco hoses and 'custom' expansion tank were expensive but they do look nice.
