I thought about that - but through alex's turbo guru contacts ( pro-drive ) the VF34 is the best, unmodified, spools and boosts from 3000 rpm very quickly, and can deliver 300 BHP plus, for our application.
plus the guys know a hell of a lot about its characteristics, so will be of great help later once we start to make engine noises.

We did some pretty serious homework on this one, but about the only place you can get one off the shelf is Japan / Taiwan :teehee:

dash board is BMW cooper s - shortened, narrowed, reduced in height and the angle is adjusted to suit. :gimme: not the easiest I've done - but looks very at home once its in. A '3' theme is forming as a detail through the mini, so it works perfect with them big old gauges. :w00t:

engine time....................

block has gone for rebore and insertion of undercrown jets, omega 87mm turbo pistons ahve arrived and arrow H section rods. Crank is in remarkbly good condition so it'll be re-used, perfectly adequate for 300 BHP apparantly. :)

ordering oil pump, gaskets and remainder of ARP bolts / nuts soetime this week.

spec wise, very similar to racing Green's - 2100cc approx overall once bored and honed.

I could do, but to be honest its all make it up as you go along - best thing to do is just get one, offer it up, work out your trim lines and go for it.

you take approx 2" out of either side of the main binnacle, join the 3 pieces together again, offer it up and scribe a line to trim it into the window reveal, once thats done you can adjust the height of the lower aspect to give you clearance for feet n stuff.

easy really.

believe it or not - PROGRESS !!

had some help from cookie this week, and things have moved forward a bit....................

stripped out all the sound deadening inside, and gladly found the rear floorpans, heal board and bin area are as solid as a rock - nay almost like new.
the front end has come off and revealed worse rust / problems than we might have anticipated, so its gonna have full front corners, scuttle, front floor pans, cross member repairs 2 sides - all to go with the other panels now virtually filling a stillage in the unit.

shifty has gratiously agreed to come and help put it all back together with his welding finesse, and tackle the back end afterwards - mad fool that he is :withstupid:

alspeed frame has made it off the shelf and is closer to the mini than its ever been yet :P

clubman front end has come out of boxes, and may even get offered up to the car next week.

engine block is back and is pretty much ready for clean up and paint prior to assembly, alex has kindly offered to keep an eye on me here to make sure i dont insert the rods and psitons the wrong way up

progress - slow, but progress non the less

He is a little ripe on the front end, not too bad though.

(I'd be having some serious words with the bloke who sold you him......ahem!!)

Still its a good excuse to put on some of the correct clubby inner wings so its not all bad really.

I'm actually looking forward to working on Shaggy, he'll be the least rusty mini I've done in ages!!

Don't forget if you do need an engine builder, I have contacts!!

its the temporary bolt up of TDK beam - got to add some more for final fix but waiting to see what bracing work if any is needed in the inner heel board area, also waiting to see where roll cage sections touch.

the tubbing was done all wrong I have been advised :D so we've got to re-instate an original inner arch, and then start again...........Shifty to the rescue

Yup, just got to get a back-log of cars out the way and then we can start on Shaggy.

If possible we will try and do a bit inbetween.

(I haven't told Roofless this but I've got 2 1/2 weeks off over xmas!!)

Martins got lots of really cool ideas that I'm looking forward to putting into metal.
