blocks painted !

blue is before - gun-metal is afterwards :)

heat resistamnt clear coat to go on in about a week or so - used black high temp as a base colour, (enamel based ) gun metal metallic as a very thin ghost coat over the top ( also enamel based ) and the final high temp clear should hold it all in place.

high temp clear has a small pigmentation to it, but ti shouldnt show up on dark colour liike this.
bit of an experiment, but my paint Guru ( KEV at NRP ) reckons its fine.

incase anyone wonders about anything other than paint...

the blocks been bored and honed to 87mm with ball bearing sprung under crown oil squirters which will trigger at around 30psi. Also been dipped and parafin washed.

just need to sort out the flywheel then its a balancing act, and we can strap together the bottom end.

all heritage, and seem to fit together very neatly - hope it stays that way when they come to get welded in :D

ground and painted bottom arms - I hate the look of cast steel so cookie helped by cleaning them up a little - barely an meat removed but now smooth and nice - top arms need the same now really, will do that tomorrow

hi mart. can you post some more pictures of the rear beam, does it not bolt to the original subby mounts, or is it my eyes. youv'e got 2 other mounts by the tunnel by the looks of things, is that just extra or did you make them.
cheers simon.

Hi simon - yes, it doesn't bolt to the original holes - a massive oversight in my opinion, but when time is right I'm anticipating fabricating some angle to weld to the beam that WILL allow it to use the outermost original holes. The mounts you spotted are extra, made by us, and there will be a further 2 more as a 'belt and braces' safeguard.

more photos will follow as soon as we dig into the back end - all focus is on the front end at the moment. :D

in between graphic moon sillyness and other stuff today, good old cookie got on the black and decker sanding wand, and the flap wheel and dressed down the top arms.

again, no real meat removed, just smoothed out and made a shed load neater. New top arms when they come nowadays are very rough castings with a lot of rough edge detail left on them.

think these will be in the gun metal finish, or maybe gloss black to match the allspeed frame.
