right i was visting leeds i dont live there so i had to drive the car back
I had secured the caliper with 2 bolts i had and to be honest the response along this line dictate what i think is wrong with this site too many opnionated arses
if u were stuck 1 hour away from home and had no other alternative what would u do and the only reason i kep going is i thought at the time it was the bolt to the flange so though was better to get to a garage and fix it
You think a few potholes would loosen these bolts - not if they were tightened properly in the first place!?
You knew there was a brake problem, and tried eight times to continue?
You bodged the repair by removing a bolt from somewhere else, and continued to and from a flat and music event?
You also continued at a max of 50mph? You didn't need to drive it any further then the nearest layby or garage...
My offer to close the thread still remains.

"I didnt have any credit or a jack in the car, the garage was only 10 mins away"
Idiot! You have legs, use them. Plus what did people do before mobiles. Find a payphone (saying that, its easier said than done nowdays)

It's better that the lad learns a lesson in common sense in a safe internet environment than rather than out on the road where he can endanger himself & other people.

Im sure if you told the police you had no brakes they wouldnt be that bad with you. Also getting them to tow it for you would be cheaper than killing someone or yourself which was quite a possible outcome.
Edit
You really think you made the right desision dont you.

Note we said move it to the nearest safe place, and slowly, be that a layby, housing estate, tesco carpark, who cares, but don't continue driving when there's obviously something wrong.

That's the worrying thing.
Cars with non-functioning brakes can kill people.

people really need to meet me b4 judging me to be honest i have no common sense this much is true and i am known for being special but stupid i am not
and im the youngest in a big family and ive always been acident prone and tend to rush at things tools blaring
i think the reason the bolts came out if cause i used copper grease on them so this was clearly a stupid thing to do but the garage i once worked at i was adviced this was always the best option clearly i was told wrongly
