i understand people getting wound up but when a part come loose due to unexperience or whatever its not always down to someone being retarded jeese louise

I think the main issue people have with what happened isn't necessarily that a part came loose or that the car had problems, more the fact that it was driven for so long in such a dangerous condition which could have endangered the lives of many people.

No one said you were a bad person. The 12 people making up a Jury may think so though, when they hear how an entire family was killed by a goon who continued driving their car with defective brakes.

I can see this becoming one of those internet posts that goes around all the forums, etc, etc...

It looks like Mr SFM is going to get his very 15mins of internet infamy! =]

In his defense, it's impossible to know what he was thinking at the time and it was probably the very first time he'd had a major breakdown in a relatively unfamiliar city. With any luck, this should be the last time he steps outside without some sort of recovery service in his wallet. And fortunately, no-one is dead (this time...!) and life has done is magic in transfering stuff from the LUCK jar to the EXPERIENCE without emptying either. :D

haha...deary deary me....devolution is highlighted again.

once upon a time my brakes locked on my car...pouring rain...i pulled over at 1st point, waited for recovery dispite having somewhere to go, dispite getting soaking looking for the problem, disipte loosing my mp3 player, dispite money and location...i did it all because its the safer thing to do.

and another time a calliper bolt fell out of a vehicle i just bought (if i had known it was loose i would have torqued it correctly), as soon as i found out it was replaced and secured corectly, though the missing bolt didnt put anything in danger i must add it still wasnt secure though.

As above, it doesn't matter if it was 1 miles or 100 miles, the fact you knew there was something seriously wrong with the brakes on your car, yet decided to keep going shows how idiotic you are.

My wife and I are shaking our heads in disgust and astonisment, its people like you who get innocent people killed and get away with a slap on the wrist. :D :-

Fantastic, you have surpassed even my expectations with this thread, what exactly were you expecting to achieve?

People like you should be banned from using tools until they actually know how to use them properly, seriously a little knowledge can be a very dangerous thing and this thread is living proof of that.

You are very lucky to be here and telling this tale, I've read many of your post where you boast of your mechanical skills and freely give "advice" advice out to other people.

Frankly i didn't believe it before and now I'm certain of it.

At which point did you consider the safety of other road users?

I'm stunned you've managed to stay alive this long and excuses of being accident prone simply do not wash, taking your time and doing things properly should be your main priority.

I hope you have actually learned from this/

I agree what i did was idiot boardering on sycotic but for some reason i felt it was the best option at the time

I am not an expert by any mark and nhave never claimed as much but the main point is the car is back no one has been harmed in the making of this thread luckily

im collected the caliper by my sisters car tomorow morning and i shall never risk driving a car again which makes even a slightly bizar noise

and i thank the people who have been constructive and helpful in this thread that may be tarred as me being 3 stops away from a labotamy

ive been workin on cars for 3 years and in that time ive had many ups and downs but by no means has this put me off
just another lesson to learn like the rule of 9 when doing tappets

im sorry if i have incented rage or anger from anyone but this wasnt my intention

To start with i will appologise for punctuation and grammer two concepts i dont grasp, unless writting an essay.

For starters that annoys me massively!. If you can do it when writing an essay, do it here as well, it'll help your case slightly in trying to convince people you aren't a total moron. A bit of effort goes a long way.

As to the brakes, I would find it hard to believe, except the internet seems to breed stupids.
