today we had a bmw 635csi (an old one, dont know what they are worth) go off for scrap. some of the cars just seem to be real nice for their age. so far no minis but if one does come in then i will try my best, maybe even buy it myself if i like it. gone are the days i could buy a trade in mini for a few hundred quid, spend a few more on tidying it up and sell it on or keep it depending on how my account balance looked! best bargain was an early spi which i got for £400, needed a sill and that was it.

635 CSi!! They are lush. The government are making a mockery of lovely cars.

Reported by the original photographer of the Mini spotted at a Dealer in Scotland:-

"The classic Mini has now been replaced at Park's MINI garage by an unfortunate Fiat Punto. Park's is a very large, successful group and operates, in the same town and around the county, dealerships for many different makes. Their BMW franchise's scrappage "victim" is a late 80's/early 90's 3-series (which looks very tidy) and at the Skoda dealership it's a VW Golf which, again, looks pretty much OK at a quick glance. There is no sign of a scrappage offer at the local Bentley showroom."

If someone traded in a Bentley Blower for £2k off a Bentley Continental I would hunt them down and shoot them. In the face. With a cannon. From a Naval warship.

I think its worse that there are classic car owners willing to scrap their cars. There's not much we can do about the scheme, hard times call for desperate measures and its the government trying to save the motor industry. I hate it, but its worse that their are people actually doing it.

With regards to the promotion, words can't describe how bad it is. Its a disgrace to the country and the motoring heritage in general. :D

For those that did go to Mini United, I hope you kept the lanyards and badges, as they're selling well on eBay so I've heard! The badge things have been selling for around £35, so you'd make your money back instantly. I'm keeping mine for 50years I think!
