People saying they hate the design of the car are a bit silly.. You cant deny the fact that it IS a nice car, im sure most of you would like if it wasnt called a mini. Im not saying i encourage what they are doing, because i dont, i totally disagree but the MINI is a nice car if you ask me, just a shame that the people behind it are complete and utter *melons*, although, it was actually designed by rover.

No matter what it's called it looks too much like a deformed mini

suppose rover stood a funny mirror next to it and drew the reflexion!!

i still dont see how they are called MINIS, i mean they are bigger than most other small modern cars. i have honestly never have liked them and never will, i have never seen the point of them, and the owners dont even wave back when you flash them!! i see a convoy of them last saturday, i was flashing and waving them, they just carried on as if i wasnt there!

and what makes it even worse is the fact i had to lock the wheels up on my mini because of a BINI pulling out infront of me, and he and his chavvy hoody mates still had the cheek to give me the two fingers, i werent speeding and he had definately seen me!

I wouldn't call the BINIs anything near perfect, a mini is always perfect

I just saw the thread that mab01uk posted on the MINI2 forum, and i had to laugh at their posts, i dont think they realise their passion would be around if it wasnt for the Mini! which greatly saddens me, as i had a bit of a think the other night when i was bored, and thought, if BINI drivers make the effort to flash or wave, it obviously shows they want to be part of the Mini scene, me and my mate both dislike the BINIs, but we were in his moke after himley last year, and a BINI one flashed at us, and we both looked at each other as if to say what to do, and we both agreed that, if a BINI driver knows what a moke is, he must have a reasonable interest in classic minis too! but now reading what some of them have put, im going back to blanking them!

Only just seen that as a result of your posting, I don't generally go near MINI2 these days, remember there's only 5 responses there so hardly indicative. Of the five only one understanding why we are upset though, which is absolutely pathetic to be honest.

However, the MINI forum we've been referring to above is elsewhere and is where all the real enthusiasts have decamped to (along with the odd plonker it has to be said!) and there's a 9 page debate there with the vast majority being against using the classic in this way and some of them at least I know e-mailed to express their concern.

As I say MINI2 is not the place to be these days and represents a rump of enthusiasts and a lot of other people who don't know any better, rather like another forum in the classic world if I were to draw a comparison :ermm:

Well, its kept the mini name going for longer. The Amount of money being made was very marginal towards the end of production, well it always was really. At least there is still minis about and hopefully always will be, although not in the original Issigonis form, but it is a successful car or it wouldnt still be in production would it.

you have to get over the fact that it isnt a small car, you might not like it, but hundreds of thausands of drivers around the world do, and at the end of the day, they are still "Mini drivers", The MINI has a scene of its own to, you say they dont wave, do you think when original was in its hayday all mini drivers waved at each other? sure you got enthusiasts in special minis, like downton minis, or wood and picket but it works in the same way with MINIs, There is enthusiasts such as Mab1 who owns both, and im sure if he see's members of MINI2 about on his travels they wave at eachother.

Guys just reading the rest of the recent comments above and whilst it's your right to dislike them just bear in mind that some of us do actually rather like our MINIs so do we have to retread old ground now and be rude about 'em after a day that ended so positively and when we were all united?

We are aware of the size and all the rest of it but let's let's celebrate something positive and talk about the classic Mini and perhaps even how we can all contribute to stopping more Minis going for scrappage ... just an idea :ermm:

Well said. It will never happen, TheMiniForum.co.uk will never be a place of harmony when it comes to mini VS MINI, but at the end of the day, we are all enthusiasts of the same thing, be it 59 or 09.

Yeah, Just like MINI2 is not a friendly forum for the Classic Mini. Also about BINI's waving at each other they dont there is a topic on MINI2 about it.

Thanks for trying Mini-Mad-Craig :ermm: :teehee:

General note: MINI2 is no longer THE forum for new MINI enthusiasts (but I wouldn't say 4 posts make it unfriendly, just a bit pathetic!).

BMW Maidstone has one on display too!! > Its an insult to the classic mini!! I'm saddened that they agreed to it. It just goes to show what classic mini owners always thought...... Binis are NOT minis, they are just cars and BMW do NOT care, and yet they wonder why they are not accepted into the mini world?!?!?

Where do they have one on display then? I went up there today and there was no classic Mini.

Oh I didnt see it, someone told me they did. Maybe they heard about all this fuss and removed it or maybe just maybe thinking about where I got the info from, its possible someone was having a laugh at my expense because I mentioned to them my disgust at the Mini on display at Douglas Park :ermm: It seems my work mates are in trouble now grrrr lol

Edit: Minimadcraig see it!!!! So my work mates are let off :teehee:

few questions
1 - did anyone find the picture of the mini mpi outside maidstones one as i want to see it
2 - is anyone actualy going to check that they are removing this?
3 - i dont remember seeing replies but someone said they should let us all salvage things from the minis before they scrap them, i think thats quite a good idea. i kno im gonna get nagged at for saying it because they cant sell them for profit but i think they should allow us to save bits from then, ah well :ermm:

well done again
xXx
