I love the way that fans can see past all the guy's quite obvious social, behavioural, psychological & sexual issues. I wonder if Gary Glitter's fans do the same?

he didn't do anything that odd did he? is it not normal for most grown men to share their bed with young boys and then pay them $22 MILLION to drop any criminal charges that may be brought against them??

the guy was a kiddy fiddler and only got away with it because he was rich enough to pay people off

It's true that he had lost grip of reality, and at times what was appropriate, but I don't think he did anything wrong to those children.
Firstly, would the parents have allowed their children to stay with him if they believed he was a paedophile?
Secondly, the fact that they accepted the money in itself shows that's all they wanted from him. They saw an incrediby rich, but naive man, and decided to use their children for a 'get rich quick' scheme. Any decent parent wouldn't accept any ammount of money if their child had been abused, they'd have dragged it through the courts. If they honestly thought he was guilty then taking the cash would be tantamount to pimping their own child out; 'yes, it's wrong, but for $22million we'll forget it all happened.'

In his personal life he was deeply troubled, mentally and physically, and it's sad that in the last decade or so he was seen as a laughing stock, rather than, in his day, one of the most talented performers of his generation.

R.I.P Jacko!
The spookiest thing is, I had my school prom last night. And at about 11pm we were all dancing to Thriller by Jackson. :(
Very very strange...

It is incredibly strange that nearly everyone i know that had a prom this year had michael jackson playing at it. I know someone who was at their prom, then Billy Jean was played as the last song. Although as soon as they got into the car, their mum told them that Jacko was dead. Really spooked him :)

this really shocked me when i walked in to work and everyone was telling the jokes,
really makes me sick.
i loved his attitude, he was completly unstoppable and still had the #1 selling album of all time
(thriller over 26 million copies)

im really gutted about it, just shows that he couldnt go on forever. and afternot performing for 12 years took its toll

ive been listening to his music all day

i just hope people really do leave him to rest in peace

I had the privelege to see him live in concert twice (Dangerous & History tours). Yes, I am a fan. I was raised with his music from a young age.

I can tell you now, we will never see his equal. As a showman, he was fantastic. There was so much talent there, so much passion in his performance.

He had his faults, but we're human... who doesn't? I still can't believe he'd harm children in any sense, he raised inordinate amounts of money for children's charities and did so much work outside of that raising awareness of various issues.

It's a sad day indeed when we can't let a legend of his calibre pass with dignity.

Some of us don't agree that he was a legend, sorry!

I can't understand the mass mourning. I couldn't understand the reaction to Diana's death either.

I saw a headline yesterday "The World Mourns" - actually, no it doesn't. Some of us are untouched by the death of a pop singer.

I totally agree here. A good friend of mine died a week or so back - went to the funeral on thursday. He too was a talented musician on the local scene and also died of a heart attack at the ridiculous age of 47. The church was packed with people who really knew the guy and the tears were genuine for the loss of a really good bloke. RIP Dave Blackman.
