I fitted the 1 7/8 RC40 exhaust with LCB and alloy inlet and flowed HS4 carb ysterday and recieved the hangers today so finished it off tonight. Man what a difference in sound! It is running a little rough but the carb hasn't been set up properly. I'll look at that tomorrow.

I also fited the drivers side central locking but as I dont have any intsructions and the wiring on the box is faded and parts water damaged I dont really know what any of the wires do. I figured out which are the + & - to move the actuator though. While I had the door card off I cut the hole behind where the speaker pod will go.

I also found a rust hole just below the door light switch so I smothered it in rust killer to try and keep it at bay. There are a few little spots of rust I need to take care of but they aren't that bad yet.

Recieved my new amp today, JL Audio e4300 4-ch. Here's the specs:

RMS Power at 4 Ohms 45 W x 4
RMS Power at 2 Ohms 75 W x 4
RMS Bridged at 4 Ohms 200 W x 2
Frequency Response = 10 Hz - 25000 Hz
Signal to Noise Ratio = 104 dB
THD at Rated RMS Power = 0.08 %
Crossover / Equalizer
Bass Boost

All good, all good!!

Now I just need to mount it in the boot below the parcel tray on a motorised shelf for easy access. Schawing!!

It had a few scratches on it so I decided 'what the hell' so I striped it and painted it the same colour as the car! Looks way better. I still have to put another couple of coats on but it will be 100% better looking.

I also set up the carb today and got the car running, I took it down to my local mechanic and he put the sensor on it. Running at 9% CO2! A little rich and idling high. We fiddled with the mixture and idle and got it down to 850ish rpm and about 2.5% CO2 so much better. I took it for a run and it started idling again at about 1300-1400 but I am pretty sure that is because the throttle cam is sticking a bit.

I painted the mirrors with a second coat of black tonigt and did a second coat of silver on the speaker pods, they are looking much better.

I called into B&Q & Dunelm Mill today to get the hard board and vinyl covering for the door cards. This is what I've done so far.

I used an old door card as a template and made up the two boards.
Drilled and cut all the holes needed.
Spray contact adhesive on the door card then layed some padding on and cut to shape. Sort of like duvet material only really thin & light.
Spray glued both padding and vinyl and stuck them together
Cut excess vinyl off and made all the cuts to fold it over.
Spray glued where the fold go and stuck it all down then staple gunned it in place. (ran out of staples too)
Finally I attached the speaker pod. This is what it looks like now. It will have ali handles etc so should all tie in together.

The box is all finished I just have to wait til I can afford the sub, maybe I'll get it for X-mas if i keep dropping the hints with the wife >_< Once I have it I'll cut the hole and trim it all up and install it. I still have to run the wires for it and the amp which has been repainted and drying. I'll finish the other door card and install the wiring to the doors first but again I have to wait till I can afford all the wiring too. OOhhhh if we only had unlimited funds . . .

Well I got around to doing the rust today. There was a small spot on the seam of the passenger B-pilar at the top. That has been sanded back, rust killed and repainted. The other spot was few small bubbles in the drivers A-panel. Small bubbles . . yeah right! I used the grinder to remove the rust back to fresh metal but had to stop as I would have completely gone through the panel - it! There are 2 small holes in the panel now so temporarily I have used a LOT of rust killer then metal fillered them smoothed and repainted. It looks like the previous owner didn't bother to replace the panel or remove the rust properly before he resprayed it (what a ;D) I will have to get a new panel and figure out a time I can replace it.
I got a can of MNF (quicksilver) paint from Halfrauds to go over them but it turns out it is way to silver and doesn't match! AARRRGG!! Even though the colourcode on the engine bay plate says MNF. My car seems to have a kind of slightly bluish tinge in it and I dont know whether the colour on my car is wrong or the halfords paint is just a slightly different colour. To top it off I have just put too much laquer on the a-panel and have two dirty great big runs. :D :P :P

When it goes wrong, everything goes wrong!

I did however manage to sand back the mirrors today so tomorrow I will repaint them and fingers crossed it won't go wrong again. I also bought some 4ga wiring for the amp and some ofc speaker cable for the sub and front components. Only 2 days holiday left so it will have to be another job to find the time for :withstupid:

Well back at work for a few days now so not as much getting done as I would like. The wife was out last night so I managed to make a start on the boot lining. I cut out the fuel tank cover and the base board so just have to get some more wood for the other side and back then I can look at the best way to mount my amp up near the parcel tray.
I also got another mdf panel on the roof, it's 2/3 done now and I just have 1 more piece to put on the back before I either put in a new head lining or cover it in material/felt/carpet, haven't decided yet. It will definitely be black though.
Next I want to run some of the wiring for the amp and sub then I'll look at running the rca's and front speaker wiring. As I have to take the doors off to replace the A-panel there isn't much point in running the door wiring yet.

I bought some solid front subframe rear mounts and new teardrops which I pick up tomorrow. I also got some rear subframe uprated bushes and brackets so they will be going on at the same time. I bought some more 12mm & 9mm MDF for the boot/amp install and some more paint for the wheels. Man all I seem to be doing is buying stuff for it and not getting much completed, I hate it when you actually have to go to work for a living!

Picked up the brackets yesterday and also got a pair of adjustable tie rods for a fiver! Sweet. He had lots of other stuff there including a 1293 fast road engine built by bill richards if anyone was interested?
Anyway off to fit the brackets now :)

I've now fitted the solid rear mounts for the front subframe and 1 new teardrop mount, I'll be fitting the other one tonight. They were really fiddly to line all the holes up but after a bit of leverage I got there in the end. Hopefully I can do a bit of wiring for the amp tonight and make a start on the amp rack. I want it to fit under the parcel shelf but using some sort of motor/actuator have it drop down and extend out but still be wired up. I'll probably add some lights in there too.
