It's been over a month and I haven't been able to do bugger all on the car as I have had to fix up the Smart after the 'little bump' when it snowed. Hopefully the weather will improve and we can all get out to our garages and crack on before the all shows start. Hopefully I will go to the L2B this year if I can convince the wife

Well March has been and gone with bugger all progress still. I am going to get her tuned at Bill Richards Racing on Monday or Wednesday tho so I can drive it on the L2B in May. I need to do an oil change tomorrow and finish the boot install. I've covered the MDF in Carpet and just need to make the petrol tank cover part and cover it and the boot floor. Next thing will be the wiring for the amp and sub and installing the sub box. I also think I will be putting in an MDF dash until after the L2B then I can customise my own dash when she is off the road getting some welding done.

Update: Bill did a really good job tuning Fern and replaced some dizzy parts as they were naff. She is running better now and I will be getting the MOT sorted soon.

I have got my ass into gear and got an MOT after it ran out at the end of Jan and me not realising it, oops ;D . It has dim headlights and the choke cable is sticking a bit so I need to adjust it. I have also sanded the two wheels I painted back smooth after the paint went wrong. I have to smooth the other two down and paint all four and get them on the car in the next month.
I have finally ordered my Sony XS L10S shallow sub which hopefully should be here in the next week so I can finish mounting it and the box in the car. It still needs a bit of work as I have to change the design of the box a little bit to fit it in with the rear seat. The carpet in the boot needs another go as I made a school boy error and stapled the edges down where they are visable instead of hiding them behind the unseen edge.
In the next week or so I will need to order the headlining from Retro Retrims and some new window rubbers so I can get it all fitted before the L2B, so all in all a very busy month coming up. I will post photo progress as I do things so if anyone is still following, stay tuned.

Hahaha, your gonna laugh at this one . . .

I've been wondering why I didn't get a reminder about the tax or MOT through the mail so I went and checked the folder I have all my mini info in and guess what? The V5C is still in there all filled out ready to send off!! I've only had it sitting in there for 8 months and I'd forgotten about it completely. I quickly sent it off to the DVLA yesterday so hopefully they wont ask about the descrepency in dates :D

On a lighter note, I now have two wheels ready for paint again and a third just about ready so come the L2B I will finally have my wheels on there. :(

Bloody company I ordered the Sony XS-L10S sub through dont have one and cant get any, poo. I have had to odrer an Alpine 1034 instead which is 110mm deep instead of 75mm like the sony. I could have gone for the Pioneer which is only 75mm deep but a bit too expensive. It should be here in the next few days, then I can start on redisigning and making the front of the box.

Times ticking before the L2B! better get my A into G.

My new sub arrived the other, it's an Alpine SWS-1043D 10" dual 4ohm voice coils. Also I won a fiberglass bonnet on ebay which I will pick up on the weekend. I have 3 out of 4 wheels ready to paint and I'm half way through smoothing the fourth so with any luck I should have them finished in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to get them on the car finally.
My wife and I went to the Kentish Mini Owners Club meeting on the 12th and met some really nice people. We're looking forward to doing some of the runs with them in the future :)

Picked up the Fiberglass bonnet today, it's an Arc Angles one with the MK1 brackets on it so I'll have to cut them off and make us some to fit a Mk3 on. I was thinking of cutting off half the brace from the old bonnet and cleaning it up then fiberglassing it to the F/G bonnet. I'll think about it first as there is still so much to do before L2B. I sold the 998 parts on ebay and someone really got a bargin. I thought the price would go up but it didn't! The Block Head & Petrol tank all sold for £5 each! Oh well never mind at least I have more room in the workshop now.

Thanks Jack. I have so much to do on the car still before L2B and also trying to finish decorating the house and overtime at work! It's just all go all the time but sadly the car has been down on the priority list, I can just see me pulling a few all nighters just to get things done in time! I'll post pictures as and when I can.

Tonight I plan to do some of the wiring for the amp and hopefully mount the amp tray and trial fit the sub box so I can modify it.

Last night went ok until I discovered this in the rear passenger side

The stupid thing is when I bought the car the outer sills had been replaced so why they didn't just spend a little extra time and chop out this stuff is beyond me. I am going to have to do a temporary repair to stop water getting into the cabin until after the L"B then I will look at striping things down and getting rid of all the rust on the shell, I feel a major mission coming on!
On a positive note we got the carpet underlay all shaped up and in. The subbox fits and is marked up ready to modify it and the amp position has been finalised. Speaking of the amp when I pulled it out of the plastic bubble wrap it has been in since after painting there are blemishes all over the paint so that will need a respray too. Hate it when things like that happen!
