40-odd years worth of cack & grease, lovely

All cleaned up

The other side

and stripped down

And all cleaned up, unfortunatly the back plate was both bent and twisted, so ordered a new one

The top ones have been cleaned, bottom ones are still dirty, although they dont actually look too bad; the pipe is being replaced for new, as are all the other brake pipes on the car

Bottom one is all cleaned up, top one is about to be cleaned

Few more bits getting painted:

New front subframe, had to be cleaned up before painting as it had been sat in Mini Spares warehouse for God only knows how many years!

I ordered a load of new bits from Somerford Mini the other week, including pretty much every single nut, bolt and washer to replace all the old ones on the front suspension. I was not too impressed when I opened up the parcel to find that, rather than labeling them all or putting them all into seperate bags, they had put them all in together

The first scuttle to get repaired:

Good as new:

Passenger inner wing getting its 'fresh air' duct blanked (mk1's dont have them)

Rad cowling going on:

Just a few welds.....

All done and good as new:

Second scuttle getting repaired:

Drivers inner wing getting the bonnet stay & wiring loom clips added:

The front panel before, during and after the mk1 finishers being fitted, much better with them fitted for the proper mk1 look:

Front wings getting ready to go on:

Front panel on:

And at long last, after over 12 years with no front end on him, he finally looks like a Mini again:

I was so pleased when I saw this picture, its a big milestone to me for it to have a front end back on it again after so long without

Any news from Pete as to when your getting him back, I uploaded pictures of my front panel the other day did you get a chance to look??????
Cheers
Andy
Hi Andy, no news from Pete as yet, last I saw he was working on my front doors (replacing the runners & re-skinning them) I also know he was gettin pulled off of mine to do some work on a 'bus thats been sat waiting for him to work his magic- not a bad thing as I'm rather busy myself over the next month.
I saw the pics of your front end, looks really good mate, I'm away next week but when I get back I'm gonna take my front number plate carrier down to Pete to do the same with mine as you did with yours- & fair play with what you've done to your doors, bet that was a bit stressfull! I wouldn't fancy taking a angle grinder to a brand new door, given how much they cost! keep up the good work, its looking realy good.

The bottom lip

The inside of the bottom of the door (door with its skin off)

The rust cut out

And replaced with new metal

The inside of the other door's bottom lip

And being replaced

Sprayed up- good as new

One very rusty top edge (this is the lip that the runner for the windows sit onto)

The rust cut away

New piece fabricated from scratch by Pete and welded in- its detail like this that make me so glad pete's doing the work for me

I've still got plenty more work to do on the suspension, have started cleaning up the rear subframe parts, I already have a new rear subframe; pretty much everything else apart from the 'hydro displacers and the radius arms are gonna have to be replaced unfortunatley, will post up pics soon.

More fantastic work from the fish-monger himself!
Fish monger? is there something Pete hasn't told me?
