Simple things like the ashtray bracket, quite a simple piece to make in theory, but getting the folds and the curves in the right place all on one piece is very tricky unless your v experienced with metal and have an eye for detail.

Just read through the whole thread....its looking brilliant. Petes work looks fantastic. The level of attention to detail takes alot of effort and time and you really have got to appreciate it.

Thanks Matt, glad you like it, as I've said before, Petes workmanship is brilliant, and his attention to detail is inspiring;
and yep, that ashtray bracket is one of my favourite parts of the car, I saw the piece before Pete welded it in, and it really is perfect, you would never know it had not been made in a factory. Looking forward now to seeing it all sprayed up

Hi, been a while since my last post, progress on the mini on my part has grinded to a halt over January; thanks to a tiny prang in my everyday car over crimbo in the ice, Ive had to sort that out as a priority- luckily nothing major but second hand parts are a nightmare to get hold of and I'm not paying maindealer prices (£300 for a bare headlight from mitsubishi

Anyhow, had to get these pictures up, Pete sent them to me on the weekend, most of the 'shell is now painted, with the outside (hopefully) being sprayed this week, enjoy:

I must have missed this when you updated last, Pete's done an excellent job of the spray work it's looking top notch. Your ahead of me on my build now by quite a way I would say, I've only just got my roof on and got all the top coat and lacquering to do yet, anymore photo's of the whole car sprayed or is it still in final stages. Wont be long before your garage gets a new guest
Cheers

Hi Nick

Hi Andy, body is all sprayed now, gotta try and find the time to get the pictures up; just the doors, bootlid & bonnet to be done now so wont be long!
Pete is steaming along with the bodywork whereas I have come to a grinding halt- spent most of Jan getting my daily driver sorted after a bump in the ice and a couple of weeks ago i bought a house, which means all my time is now taken up sorting out my flat as I'm gonna rent it + all my money is taken up with all the legal fees and deposit for the house

So chances are, once I get the 'shell back from Pete it will have to just sit there and wait for a while

Yours is looking good, that roof looks mint, must have taken you ages, looking forward to seeing it all done, I'm sure yours will be on the road before mine!
Cheers,
Nick

Thanks Tim, glad you like it, as you said, Petes work is great, I'm so glad I decided to bite the bullet and get someone else to do the bodywork for me. I've always done my own work before (got my own compressor, welder etc) but this particular mini I wanted as close to perfection as possible, and thats certainly what Pete has done, I couldnt be happier with it!
