You've got the components for a really nice engine there sir. Will be following this thread closely :P.

Wait until the parts from SC arrive  lol.

I think i'll have the engine in before i have the bodywork done :)

im sure i dont need to say but if your not 1000% confident at building th engine the dont do it, a small cost involved will be worth a hell of alot, southam mini metro centre built my engine and nothingt (of there fault) has gone wrogn yet and even then only one or 2 things which are my own causing. (of course i recomend southam MMC)

I'm more than confident enough, I've built engines before, done a fair amount of service work on everyday cars, PLUS i'm an elec/mech maintenance engineer :P

The only reason i said about it taking sooo long is because i take ages to start projects ;D

But thanks for your concern :(

Well while i can't really do to much until i get the bits back from SC, I did do a couple of quick jobs this afternoon. First was to get the tyres off a slightly rough looking set of superlites so i can shot blast them and paint them.

I've given them a once over with a wire cup on the grinder to remove as much of the loose laquer as possible. I think i might go gold with them. :)

So while the 'old man' was taking the tyres of the rims with a big hammer and a bar, i reprofiled a cam with the angle grinder!! lol.

Just in case anyone thinks i'm mad, (i'm not, really) I've done this as i need a jack shaft to drive the oil pump, doing this has two benefits 1. It saves having to make sure the cam and crank do not come into contact and 2. It saves weight! less rotating mass :P

I'm taking it to work tomorrow and hopefully i'll stick it in either a lathe or a cylindrical grinder(depending how hard it is) and make it nice and smooth

Because i decided to get SC to do a ST3 head in the kit :) I think i might save it for another project now though :D

UPDATE;- The mini managed another 200 mile round trip so I could collect the kit from SC today, who says mini's arn't reliable???

It is a quality kit, really worth the money. I can't wait to get it built up, I might even start this weekend! Saying that i have a few more bits i need yet.

Next on the shopping list are

-Oil pump and a couple of bits for the engine
-Gearbox
-Playmini Exhaust
-Hi torque starter
-Nippon denso alternator
-Pressure regulator and guage
-Probably need a rad aswell, and the only uprated one for an MPi is an alloy one.

I'll get some photo's tomorrow as i forgot my camera today

Once i start something i dont stop :P , no matter how long it takes me

Yes very expensive!! Somewhere around £3.5k, and because i decided to have new injectors and an oil cap in the cam cover it came to more than i expected! But i got a FREE throttle cable, so its all good :)

UPDATE at last =P

So, after a lovely wet winter i'm back working on the minis >_< .

And after yesterdays little escapade to the MOT station it looks like i'm going to be busy.

I probably had the worst guy(or maybe the best?!) to do the test as he owns minis :) so he set about the minis rust with a hammer ;) and now it has more holes than swiss cheese :)

But, i had already pre-empted this and all the panels are on order, and the work will be getting done in about two weeks. Just wish i could say the same about the engine, still need to get bits and pieces for it.

There are a few pictures below before i cleaned it last weekend of some of the rust. There'll be a few more later of the damage when i get a chance to take some shots in the light.

Best to get it now though before it gets any worse. Silver lining and all that.
