looks very nice, are the steels 10's? if you fancy selling them to me
whats going on with the engine at the moment?
Yeah they are 10" banded steelies, i was going to put them on but changed my mind, I think i'll be putting them on my Clubby, but i might sell them
Great looking Mini, was the paint done at Sleaford Mini Centre? I'll be looking for a painter in the future for the Mrs's cooper, love the spec of your engine, nice to see someone local on here, may see you around.
Yep the paint was done by SMC as was the panel work, I would recommend them - prices are pretty reasonable as well
hi i think you can get those lights from minispeed or hythe performance
urm anyupdates with the engine i cant wait to see it running
cheers
josh
As for the engine, I think i'm making that a winter job now, as i intend on removing the subframes and replacing them as well. But it is still in the process of being built, below are a couple of photos. I suppose it depends how quickly i can get enough money together to do it all!! I do have the majority of the parts, but still need a few like exhaust link pipes, starter motor, rad, hoses etc.
It's all torqued down, I just need to fit the cams and time it up - which i'll be doing in the next few weeks - so keep checking back for updates
Gorgeous!.. Though.. It looks naked without it's coachwork stripes
Chris
Thanks, It does look a little naked

I havn't driven the Cooper for the last eight months. So when i started it up a month ago the clutch was slipping=[ so it was time to remove the five port! I'm getting the engine bay sprayed in the next week or so, ready for the twink to be sat in=] I'll get some pics up later=]
Oh, and i've decided that 10" banded steelies are the way forward=D

Well, today I managed to get the cams bolted down and the engine is now bolted to the gearbox.
I'm going to time the engine up this week and sort out the front subframe

That should look pretty damn cool when it's lowered
It should do! And with the bits that turned up today it'll be soon

Today I spent timing in the cams, not a fun exercise when you have to keep un doing the tensioner to reposition the vernier pulleys
Getting TDC

My pointer I fashioned out of a 5/16UNF bolt and bent push rod

Getting the correct valve lift

Ta da, it's nearly finished

Jobs for tomorrow - swap the clutch plate for the AP one, and fit the clutch/flywheel. And build up the front subframe, Easy!

Ha, I'll keep an eye out for you then=]
Today I started to build up the front subframe, with all the nice painted bits and using new rubbers, CV's and bearings. I also ordered alot of stainless steel nuts and bolts for various bits on the front and rear subframes, because I don't like putting old rusty ones back on, an expensive exercise

I also did the most important part of the engine build, and put the Twin Kam sticker on the rear window

Unfortunately there is a bit too much movement in the bushes in the primary gear, so it needs rebushing, which means I couldn't finish building the engine, however I'm back at work tomorrow(after a nice week off=P) so I'll give the clutch/flywheel housing a shot blast
