Just looked at your project thread and i agree with shifty and others on this one, the shell you have is scrap and just not worth it and the floor repairs are
not good enough for this to go back on the road, really you needed to replace the whole floor in one with one complete floor panel, i think you need
to stop doing what your doing and have a long hard think about what your doing and the best and safest way to do it.

I think the main point that all the guys are getting at on here is that your car needs one hell of a lot of work doing, and because of their wealth of experience they feel that it is not worth the considerable amount of time and money required to repair it. Looking at your project page it's fairly plain to see the huge amount of work required and although I'm not saying you and your Dad aren't capable, it won't be cheap. Going on Shifty's estimation, you could easily spend the money needed for panels, on something decent requiring a fraction of the work.

Please listen to the advice on the guys on here, as they're only trying to help you save time, money and most importantly keep you safe.
Robbie.

Oh and by the way I should be only doing the right side which I might change to a front to rear as you saying the seperate not being safe
The left could be ok with a few patches
Will look underneath to see about the gap underneath on the left

come on guys, give the lad a chance.
the lad is 14 years old, its a project, he is doing what most of the people on here have done, bought a mini and is learning how to repair it.
sure it needs alot of work but thats a good way of learning.
how many people on here have never welded but bought a mig welder and welded floors etc and never give a thought about the strength of the welds.
how much money he spends on panels is his concern not yours, its a project, how many times has it been said that it cost more to repair a mini than what its worth but people still do it.
has any one asked what skills his father has? he maybe the greatest panelbeater in the world.
shifty, you said at one time you have had over 70 minis and i bet when you first started repairing them you were really keen but some of them were rust buckets but still repaired them for practice/learning.
the lads learning quick, he is going to fit a full lenght floor on one side now.

Midridge, I agree totally, I wasn't trying to put him off doing it, I was just trying to steer him in a better direction. I'm man enough to admit I've done some really dumb things and bought some utter dung heaps as well.

Practise is the only way to get experience and making mistake is the best way to learn. Whats the saying? "An expert is someone who has made a LOT of mistakes in a very small field" By that reckoning I can truely call myself an expert!!!

If you have a look at his project thread I offered to help.

A full length floor is a definate step in the right direction!!

Things got a bit heated in here for a monday night a think

I have no experience of welding of any kind and can take shiftys comments in fully and understand what hes trying to say.

I say, find a different Mini project, something a bit more manageable.
End of the day, every Mini is a project Mini

Well yeah I would get that but I would just do as well with front to rear floor panels and do the sills myself?

Dont be disheartened mate keep going just think things through dont be like me and leave it all to the last minute i still need a drivers floor repair, front end, d/s rear quarter and a few others  .
maybe one step id do is have a panel bater come and have a look at it and quote on it to see what he says needs doing
