HE'S ALIVE!

After much preparing, and anticipation, today we started him up for the first time!

After a couple of runs to just turn it over and check for leaks etc, we turned the key to fire it up!

I've uploaded a couple of videos of it on Youtube for all you who are reading this

Dashboard all works, and all electrics on the car also work!

Happy days!
:)

Okay haven't really bothered updating this in a while due to pure laziness i expect, so a bit of catching up!

Last week, we put the mini through it's MOT and unfortunately, it failed. At first it looked like a bit list, but after reading it properly it wasn't too bad, which was nice :)

After sorting a dodgy fuse connection, replacing the foglight switch and tightening the clamp thing on the Y-piece of the exhaast, we were ready to fit out the interior.

This was taken on the way to the MOT station, and is probably my favourite picture of him

And this was me driving it the other day, this time round, there was no massive leak :genius:

Anyway, at the MOT station last week:

So after all that drama, it came to fitting the interior, which is my favourite aspect of the whole car now it's all finished ^_^

Rear inertia seat belts have been fitted, so some sportspack rear bins were fitted to neaten things up a bit:
Posted Image

Then came the fitting of the front seats. The whole interior was bought from Ashley James Interiors. The seats themselves are of the MPI variety, and have been retrimmed in leather, with cream stitching and black piping added:
Posted Image

The reason I went for MPI seats instead of SPI, is that they don't tend to rub against the rear bins unlike the SPI seats.

So then it came to fitting the doorcards and furniture, again, retrimmed by Ashley James Interiors (Excellent service!)
I didn't go for alloy handles as they were too cold for me in winter in our old mini, i don't like the cold.

Final job, hoovering and putting in the mats in the front and rear:

So there we are, that's Jimmy :genius:

MO re-test tomorrow, wish me luck! :D

Gorgeous mini mate. Mine build is very similar from looks of it, i've also gone for snowberry white with black roof. Good idea with the rear bins, i've got a set myself.

Good luck with the MOT :D

Thanks very much :D

There are two sort of shades of snowberry aren't there. They do finish it off quite nicely really, very pleased with them.

Thanks mate, will let you know how it goes!

Thanks very much :P Little niggles like fog light switch not lighting up, horn not working, emissions, and a blowing exhaust (forgot to put the clamp on the Y piece ><) and sidelights basically. Had it all working again when we got it home from the mot station, so not too bad :)

Thanks for all the comments everyone :D
