Now onto the arch situation.

The wood + picketts were too narrow, so sold them :)

Then we ordered some Group 2 Wides, which didn't fit at all well. So, sent them back.

Then, we bought some Group 4's from Huddersfield Spares. FINALLY! SUCCESS! :tumble:

Then this happened:

So after many conversations with Dad, I've decided I'm going to be supercharging the mini. But not when I'm 17 because of insurance, so will insurance costs drop a lot when I turn 21?

So I'll aim to do it when I'm 21, which gives me loads of time to research, and properly look into my options :bah:

Current thought is the Vmax Scart option; buying the Eaton M45 kit, with all the trimmings.

Nearer the time, we'll buy a 1275, rebuild that and then supercharge it. So that'll be when I'm 21 ish.

So for those of you who have supercharged your mini, does this vague idea sound alright? And is the Vmax Scart kit a good way to go?

Yeh like Luke said its a long time to change your mind, my project is nothing like my original idea. Plus its most likely someone will have brought out a bigger and better conversion by then. Besides the Eaton charger I know Moss are in the process of designing and producing a new supercharger which wont require any modifications to the bulkhead. Thats the one im planning on doing in the future....so far.

Yeah no doubt by 21 I will have something else planned  Thanks for the replies and comment guys.

Arch situation has become even more complicated. We were lining up the Group 4's for drilling today, and when we were lining them up we really weren't happy with the amount of body showing under the arch.

At this point we were stumped, we didn't know what to do. As I mentioned earlier, I recently sold some W+P lookalikey arches. However, at Himely Hall, we bought some more of that style, with the intention of selling them on for a profit :teehee:

So, we lined them up on the mini, and they actually covered the wheel

Yet the ones I just sold, look the same :D But these ones I have at the moment are wider somehow.

So it will after all have the W+P arches fitted (the ones that wrap around the rear valance)

6th set of arches we've gone through :)

The wood and picket copy arches that wrap around the valance are slightly wider. Same ones I had on mine, although you will struggle to get them to fit on the front with cut wings, they tend to distort alot. I now have group 4s on the front and the w&p copieson the back.

Anyway, your car is looking great, well done.

Yeah these ones aren't too bad a fit, the backs were the ones that needed the most fettling and trimming to look right. Got to do a bit of fibreglassing where a wheel has been rubbing against the inside of one of the fronts in the past sometime.

Thanks Ben, hope your minis going well! :dontgetit:

More playing about with the arches this evening, and rested them up against the body. The arch still doesn't cover all the front wheels, as you can see in these pictures:

Would some 1.5° bottom arms be worth buying, to try and bring the top of the wheel a bit more under the arch?

Alrightio chaps, made some reasonable progress lately I think
After finally settling on a decent set of arches that actually fit, we had them painted by Rob, and I am thoroughly impressed with how they came out :shifty:
So after going to collect them, we bought them home and stored them overnight.

So the next day arrived, and put 2 one yesterday, and the other 2 today.

Got this little lot from Beaulieu today.
Bought a set of Halogens off ebay a while ago, but never fitted well and were a different shape.
So got some proper mini Halogens today :shifty:
