at a rather large price hike i would like to add, nope there a 3rd party site unfortunatly, ill get them from my friend who builds rally cars or direct from peugeot sport, im a tight git and want to save money! (it already has a nice sounding exhaust but its not pug sport so it wil still be going)

todays task was to change the rear hubs, simples right? naa bloody stub pins siezed into the radius arms :D which meant thwacking them, this in turn renders them useless as they threaded section becomes unusable...
so as such today things i have changed at the rear is:
hubs
stub pins, peugeot sport group N spec
disks and pads
and some 2nd hand shock absorbers to last till i uprate the front at the same time at which point ill be getting some bilsteins

up the front today i fitted a nissens alloy radiator, bit of a bargin too :) bled the cooling system mostly i think, just going to check it again tomorrow... also tomorrow ill be getting insurance and tax woop woop!

well now i know why the heater doesnt work...some knob's cut the heater hose and connected it back together bypassing the heater...im guessing that means the heater matrix leaks...balls well i should expect it getting the car for the price i did lol

ill see about connecting a hose in temorarily and run some water through to see if it is leaking or not, if that all fine ill get some hose and hoorray heater again...but for now, ill be getting some fog-x that way it will still be drivable and i can see lol (tends to be useful!)

Well after the weather in january, the gehay snow etc, my rad froze  nothing happened to it fortunatly but i couldnt use the car and i had a rattly sound coming from the engine.

so i decided as the clutch was slipping and thinking the rattling was the water pump id pull the engine out...alot more difficult than on a mini lol damn electrics!
sure ill get faster as without a doubt ill have to do it again in the future.

anyway few niggly bits but i manage it in the end, after changing the water pump and the timing belt (including tensioners) i go to turn the engine over by hand and hit a snag...the engine wont rotate...arse so unsure what i had done and deciding it would be best to check the engine out anyways i rip the head off and inspect the engine and valve assemblys.
after a bill of health i assemble it again....the head gaskets are so much more expensive than minis also  £30 for the head gasket alone.
also while the head was off i notice than its had some light port work on the inlet side, mainly cleaning off casting marks by the feel of it.

also by the looks of things, in the past it must have dropped a valve as there was an indentation on the head and matching bore, luckly nothing too bad, its away from the valve seat and in a thick section of th piston crown.
eventually i may either get the mark tig welded and grownd flat or a big valve head...wonder which lol

after that and with the head still off i change the clutch plate, it appears the box might be on the way out on the 1st input bearing, but for now...it shall do, i put a new seal in as i think plate contamination was the cause for slip and mated the box and the head to the engine. after alligning the flywheels timing mark and the cam pullys timing marks slipped the belt on and checked if the engine turned over this time...yay

Engine went back into the car and everything was hunky dorey...except i had to buy a new fuel rail as it must have got damaged upon removal :o

well thats the shortened version :) in reality it took a week as i had to wait for parts, had a few days off and i didnt particualy like waking up early in the mornings haha

Sounds like a good project, i love rally spec cars they look awesome, a friend of mine offered to swap my mini for his 106 rallye but i just couldn't do it! And they look so much better than you average 106, huge alloys and slammed at the back with a silly backbox. Best luck with the build, can't wait to see the result.
