here are the pics of the manifold.

see how the neck restricts access to the nut. very poor design

the mg one sits at a beeter angle and leaves about 25 mm space from the carb to the bulkhead. The minispares one sits the carb about5 mm from the bulkhead!!

Oh I see.

Is that the 'big bore' one they sell at minispares?
I remember once I got it to bolt on with the carb (just about) the carb fouled on the bulkhead and was impossible to bolt the carb onto the manifold.
I think I used a 1/4 inch drive ratchet which had a UJ on the handle and a combination of spanners.

Although I think it didnt help me using a mpi subframe because i think the subframe mounts are slightly further back!

Quick update:

Got the fiesta calipers and mini hubs via postvan(thanks supoerted87).

getting new discs from the motor factors tomorrow and having them turned down to 7.9" by a local machine shop.

also had smaller adaptor pipes made up. they are about 2 inches long and have a right angle in them(pics to follow) hopefully these will be ok.

All i need now is the bolts that bolt the caliper mounting bracket onto the hub. do i need high tensile bolts? has anyone got some spare bolts lying around from a fiesta???

Narrative to be added once i get to work!!!

In work now so here is the story:

All pretty obvious to be honest. Fiesta calipers with high tensile bolts to attach to the hubs, brake discs turned down to 7.9", metro vented disc drive flanges, side by side pic of before and after cleaning!!

also they are pics of the little pipes i had made up to go from fiesta m10x1 thread to a female mini thread so i can use standard min brake pipes!!

all i need to do is jack the car up and bolt it all on!! well sort of

still need to drill out the threads on the hubs. also need to use the bolts from the mini to attach the drive flanges as the ones that came with the metro flanges are topo coarse a thread. Hopefully it is a mini/ metro difference and not a problem woth the discs i have bought

pics of fester brakes fitted and wheels

looks like i need some wider arches. also the camber looks a tad positive which i am sure it wasn't with the 12's on. will have to see how it settles. i might be getting some rose jointed bottom arms and adjustable tie rods from Sqweaka which should help.along with new bushes.

Only managed to complete ne side today but i think i need to swap the caliper mounts over as they are very close to the disc on the bottom part, either that or add a washer in to space the mount further over the disc.

very pleased with how easy it was although it did take me a long time to do!!

Looking good, good job on cleaning up those flanges as well! Was that a sanding attachment on a drill?
To confirm, the mini/metro flange to disc bolts are different threads so no worries there.

looks good the camber should settle, may be you should have a bracket at the caliper end of your flexi brake pipe to suport the copper brake pipe you made up because turning from lock to lock the flexi hose may pull &push the copper pipe ending up with it braking. think i would get some braided hoses made up with a banjo end to conect it direct to the caliper better safe than sorry mate
