I'd go for the blue one. So many vans and pick ups are painted gray. Your choice though.

This project is coming along lovely! You are very miticulous in your work! Colours on the subby bits are awesome :) look forward to more progress :D

In terms of colour i would go for whatever you like best! You will have to live with it. Personally i would go for a mid range bright orange.. but thats me :D

Ok the Pickup up is going to its new Home in wales in a couple of weeks ................................

However this is only a momentary home as she is coming back body work fully restored and with a really nice spicey Engine, its been a long while saving but its finally all come through, she will be back bodywork restored, fully painted, caged up, both subframes on,

The engine is being built buy an Ex Miglia Champion & SH engineering final spec will be written in later, but hopefully a fair few ponies more that then 998 i was looking at originally building.

Long time coming but it feels good to actually write back on my own build thread should really call it a built thread :genius:

Right a little bit of movment has occured !

i have Aquired a new MED Full race Mini Se7en Head, and have finally settled on a spec, i went out today to get another 998 and succeeded, i got a A+ with a A+ Crank and standard Cam in it, so it will be stripped down and used for the engine build,

Bodywork, has had to be posponed due to sh*t weather and also getting the car to Endaf, the Engine is going to be built by myself now and parts mainly brought from MED and SH Engineering,

the Spec of the engine is

Cylinder Head EX Chris Spark Mini Se7en

Inlet 35.7
Exhaust 31
Fully ported and flowed
Bronze valve guides
14.1 cc Chamber
Race SS Valves
Titanium valve caps and tops
Dry Decked
Race double valve springs
i have standard ratio rockers does anyone recommend 1.3 Roller Rockers?

Fueling

Weber 45 5" Manifold ( need to work out 1 choke or 2) Advice !

Engine Block

Surfaced, Pocketed, Chemically Cleaned,
Omega Forged Pistons +020 with the 5.7cc dish the Se7ens Use
A+ Crank Lightened/Balanced/Polished/Wedged Bladed &Cross Drilled By MED
A+ Rods Lightened /Balanced/ Polished
Cam ( Has been difficult But think settled on a 286/SW10/MINI SE7EN CAM 6648 please advise)
High Flow Oil Pump,
Oil Cooler,
Dry Deck kit from MED
3.7KG flywheel and Backplate assembly
Adjustable Duplex Timing Chain

Gear Box

Comp Dif pin
3.4 FD on 10"s
SC Drop Gears
Central Oil Pickup

my whiplash money has finally come through so i i have a FAT miniSpares order, so its gunna be an expensive couple of months :D

It's tasty ! Does anyone know what wiring loom I need to get for the front ? As I am goin to be running a binnacle and using an alternator I think, and properly the 2 stalk setup and then mk1 centre switches ? Thanks could you add links please for the correct loom and rear loom( I presume just a van loom will do for the rear)

Right then guys car is at the body shop, the engine has had to be downed abit due to reliability, after speaking to a few people including the likes of Mr Dodd and MED i am told the above spec would last for around 3000-5000 miles before needing a rebuild. so has been adjusted so hopfully will still manage about 60/70hp and get reliability factor too,

12G940 Cast
Inlet 35.7
Exhaust 31
Fully ported and flowed
Bronze valve guides
Eibach Double valve springs
i have standard ratio rockers does anyone recommend 1.3 Roller Rockers?

Fueling
facet fast road electric fuel pump
Twin HS2 Carbs

Engine Block

Surfaced, Pocketed, Chemically Cleaned,
+060 Pistons
A+ Crank Balanced/Polished/Bladed &Cross Drilled By MiniSpeed
A+ Rods Lightened /Balanced
276 kent Cam
High Flow Oil Pump,
Oil Cooler,
3.7KG flywheel and Backplate assembly
Adjustable Duplex Timing Chain

Gear Box

Comp Dif pin
3.4 FD on 10"s
SC Drop Gears
Central Oil Pickup
Windage Tray

So the Final colours for the pickup are going to be a Smoke Grey body, and a black roof, the car like i said is in the workshop, i am to be receiving a full detailed photo diary for the work that is being carried out, the bed is being treated by something called Raptor X which is a rubberised sprayable pickup liner that is also tintable, so it wil be the same colour as the bodywork, i have also managed to order an extended Binnicle, with the rev counter built in, so when it arrives i will post up some photos.

some of the things so far that i have had replaced for the bodywork, the bed has been replaced, the floorpans have been replaced, the top mounts in the rear have been replaced, the doors require new MK1 Hinges, the rear bulkhead has been repaired and the rest of the car has had small cut outs and penny size repair sections made and welded in where needed.

so i am pleased with what is going on so far, i recently also received the stepped mini pickup lights that are also on the Rover P4 which were a bit of a bargin :genius:

ii also managed to get hold of a unmolested 998 so standard bore with no wear normal cam in it too with some other bits that hopefully can use in the main engine build.

its taken very long for me to be able to get to this stage and get the pickup sorted, the bodywork will be completed and the car will be run-in hopefully for london to brighton, if not it might be on its run in period,

I am looking at getting the Twin Carbs fully refurbished and polished so that they are a centre peice for the engine bay, also staying with a period style i will be painting the engne in the BMC green
