with reqards to the link ....... by the way looks ace! did the tub hole / drainage you make for the load bay go throught a hold in the sil ? because looking at my sills i have a hole where a drainage hole could potentionally go.

upon looking at the gear linkage i have decided to do put in a kad high level geat linkage kit, which will loock great but i will need to change my quick shift for a blue one as red and blue dont tend to go so i need to order those :D

and yes ben i thinking now colour co-ordination mite have been too ambitious (what this i hear your selling Kermit ?), but i will solder on, what her ready for the next L2B at the latest, it would be nice to get it ready for brooklands and take her up the test hill :D but its just the small case of money money money. :D

Having to buy things like ,engine bits......£400, interior......£300-400...... paintwork......£300, body work wheels etc list goes on :D im barely surviving now lol but new job started today so hopefully a pay rise.

will update in a couple of days when fitting the rear bed :D

NITE TMF :D

Yeah, as standard the pick-up had drain tubes that went through the sills. The M-machine floor doesn't have them though so I had to make some up. While I was at it I made them out of larger diameter pipe to make them a little more efficient.

Right......... :dontgetit: not a good start. went out fully excited to cut penny to bits, but when i got the panels onto the back of the bed they were too big....

meaning that i will have to remove the rear bulk head to attach. upon looking at this the bottom of the bulk head is rotten and will need to be repaired. as a new rear bulkhead for a pickup is nearly £300! :xxx: so i will need to cut out the rear bulkhead to then be able to reattach the new floor. even this is going to be a pain without removing the rear panels.

this job seems to be a prettty major job and is turning into a nightmare! is there anyone who has fixed a bed without removing the rear panels please contact me so i can possibly have you over to help

cant really say how gutted i am about it all :) so now i will need to

  • cut out rear bed and leave in braces.
  • remove the rear bulkhead.
  • repair rust along the entire bottom of the rear bulkhead.
  • repair rust on the inners of the doors.
  • weld on new bed
  • weld in drainage holes& pipes
  • weld in the repaired bulkhead
hopefully all done then.

Also does anyone actually know if pickup bed have 2 skins or just the one ?????

Bit of a bummer there then. I only know about the front floor but I've stuck some pix here which include the rear bulkhead from below which you can't normally see with the floor in place. Might just give you a hint.

Did you get the link to the harness fixing?

The gutter thing on the inside of the cab is the rear floor pan. As standard that's how long it is - it goes all the way into the cab. The rear bulk head is spotwelded to it on the inside of the cab.

Hi
Just read through your thread, good work coming on
well. Hope you get the bulkhead/floor issue worked out.
Here's a link to the yellow hoses you asked about.
http://www.siliconho...p;catalog=MS202
Use the drop down box for the colour you want.
I found them a very good company to deal with.
Hope that helps.

When I ordered mine I ordered the complete floor, with the cross members and rear valance as well. This also came with the bend for the internal lip as a separate piece which you weld on afterwards.

Not easy to describe in words how I actually did mine but I did was I cut the rear floor away just behind the rear bulkhead as close as possible then ground down the bit of floor that was left so that it was totally flush with the bulk head. So imagine now all I've got is the complete bulk head and the bit of floor that protrudes into the cab along with the lip to make it into a gutter. I then put the new rear floor in place but slid the front end of it underneath the piece of the old floor that was left. When it was all in the correct position I spot welded all the way along joining the old floor to the new.

I did it this way because I wanted to keep the original gutter/lip you're talking about. Also, this way makes that whole area a lot stiffer.

If you don't want to do it this way I still have the original lip piece that you weld onto the front edge of the floor which you're quite welcome to have.

yep i can see what is happening, but the bottom of my bulkhead needs to be repaired the bottom 3 inches or so is rotten so it will be comin out i think so that the new bed can go in but i am unsure. the lip isnt on my panels however i have two options either cut out the bulk head out and replace the bottom section or i can cut the rear bulk head out completly weld in the skins and then reattached the bulkhead ...

but im to confused what to do at them moment.
