Right ok Guys

update from the last couple of months, i have multiple prolblems and penny has been a bit rejected since i last did n e thing to her,

Reasons being.... the guy who gave me the pickup wanted money for the pickup ( a couple of weeks after my last post)and has been putting pressure on me to get the money together, after getting it together, i am now waiting for him to come up with the V5. So for the last coupleof months rather than spending time on the pickup i have been scrambling to get this money together. so nothing has been done since i was last on .... I think, just checked no i havnt. i went down the garage today for the first time in about 2 motnsh and took a look at her and it has made me very sad. i need to gfet this body work done before the winter sets in and causes more problems,. the panels from mini machine have also started to get some surface rust on them aswell which i am abit ******* off about. and also they are warped like they were when they arrived. and in a way i havnt wanted to do anything to it just for the fact at any point he could turn around and ask for his sons car back as i was not the legal owner.

so anyway it comes to winter where i have the money for the car but one thing i dont have is the time or place to do work on the mini @ night so it will have to be done on my days off. Fun times. NOT.

So this is the reason y i have ben so quiet lately. on a more serious note my cousins and my brother are going to be help in me do the work over the winter time so i hope that will help make the work load a little less.. my aim is now to have thebody work done and the paint work done by L2B im not fussed about making it this year. i can do it the year after.

Good Luck with your pick-up Rob, you have done an amazing job so far and i am sure you will get over the body/panel issue soon ....keep thinking about what it will look like in the end as it will give you the motivation to keep going

just read from page 1 and really good work the only thing i can say on the red primer front is my dad resto'd a mk2 astra gte 16v and about 2 years after he had finnished it the paint started to flake where the red primer was starting to crack the paint had to rub down to bare metal in places and repaint.

Right then lads and laddettes, bit of an update for you, penny is going into a body shop and have a full body make over, repairs fixed and fully painted leaving me a nice clean canvas to start again, now i have two different idea for body work colours. quite a few people have done the light blue pickups so i though to myself why not go retro, like really retro, thining dark grey and a black roof with a black interior would look BANG TIDY !! coughs sorry for that .......anyway

In other news

Also engine plans have changed slightly, i am still having to bore the engine, but rather than +60 i am having to go +80 the reason is minispares dont seem to be able to get the +060 pistons anymore

so final engine spec should Be

998cc +080 (Mini spares pistons any advice ?)

12g940 cylinder head, with 35mm wasted stem race inlet valves, 30mm race exhaust valves, bronze guides, 240lb double valve springs >_<

1.5 roller rockers

i currently have the 276 Kent but dont know weather a sw5/sw10 would be better suited or even a Leyland 649 cam (open to advice) :)

bottom end it is having a full gearbox rebuild with a competition diff pin in as my cousins went POP lol !!!! nice big hole in that engine

finaly decisions whilst everything is being done is what Con Rods to use as i am hoping this litttle bugga will rev to 7500k/8000k i would like to make full use of the power bands and the cam that i do finally settle on. and also what carbs to use ? i was thinking either twin HS2'S or twin HS4's but i dont know wether 4's might be too much for a 998

Peace homies

P.S its nice to finally make a post and tell you lot that i am making progress been nearly a year of saving !!!!
