just a bit of a side note, the guy on there who said and i roughly quote 'theres a few of us round manchester who slash their tyres and nick there wheels to sell on for money to buy things for our minis' (not exact words used)

well anyway, he is the founder of a mini club i forget the name but could easily find it again

should this mini club really be allowed to shows etc? and should organizers of shows know who they they are to stop them?

they could after all as they have shown/said, they could potentially damage peoples cars while at the shows

to be honest tho, its not a funny thing to joke about or to make yourself sound clever

but when everyone was saying you were out of order for saying youve done something, wouldnt you deny it and say you were joking?

no its not funny at all, i agree, i posted on the page too saying people need to be educated more! to be honest, some people are so arrogant and oblivious to what they are actually saying they prob would just say "so, what you going to do about it?" but as you say, he might just feel a bit stupid for admitting to it!

Naughty Member says - you ever get board, theres a couple of us in manchester slitting there tires, or robbing the alloys selling them and buy stuff for our proper minis

its not a mini its a bmw - yer mate good idea

sain member 1 - Are you serious??

sain member 2 - are you serious about this? you slit their tyres and steal their wheels for what reason? you hate the company that the car is made by, so why take it out on the people that own them?

Naughty Member again - Lol im joking chill out, like anything off a bmw is worth selling

a member who thinks he knows it all but actually doesnt says - You're a total div, and I hope you get arrested.

obviously i have changed the names there but thats what i found on the facebook group, so reading it again, you could be right and he was just saying he was joking!

i know its really pathetic, im not a huge fan of the bmw version, but i wouldnt go further out of my way than a friendly joke

i think thats sums up what most people think, i dont like it but to go that far is just wrong, i dislike any kind of vandalism and to know theres some which share our mini passion is disheartening, some people dont deserve it.

i wouldnt even damage a chavved up POS car outside mcdonals

completly agree, what annoys me is when people dont know the history of the mini and the sarga that went on between Rover and BMW, which imo is where you will find most real mini fans problems with the BINI! these guys are obviously just doing it to cause hastle!

Glad to see everyone agrees this is so wrong and could badly damage the good public image of classic Mini enthusiasts if we tolerate such behavior or 'joking'.

By the way 'Mistro' you can't really expect every new MINI owner you meet to know the history of their car any more than most classic Mini owners did when it was also a current mainstream and not exclusively 'enthusiast' owned car. I have personally known plenty of Mini owners over the past 40 odd years who neither knew nor cared about the Mini's place in history but it did not annoy me...........why should it?
As for the saga of what went on between Rover and BMW there are many conflicting opinions and some detailed books on what 'really' happened but unfortunately few 'enthusiasts' ever bother to read them or get to listen to true stories of people like the hundreds of British Rover engineers who actually worked on and developed the new MINI for production or those that still work at Cowley Oxford today...........

no i know that not every MINI owner will, as i know 90% of MINI owners just have one because its a "cool" car, but when one of these 90% try to start telling people how the Mini is only a success now because of the MINI.........

ill be completely honest here, i dont know the full details (probably dont know even half). but to be completely honest i dont care what went on, yes its a big shame that its now owned by a german company. and not british, but if people wanted british motor companies to carry on, then why buy foreign cars?

i can totally understand why bmw bought the brand, its earned them a whole pile of money

by the way, i love those names on the facebook conversation, we should find a way to rename them to those

i know a lot of Mini owners dont, and a lot of MINI owners dont, but there are a few that do, and i know quite a few people from rover work on the MINI, and i know at the end of the day its business, and BMW made a smart business decision! which is some peoples views thats where it ended!

but as has been said, theres so much more to it than that, which we can all have our views on what happened, but as said, we may never know exactly, and untill we do, i feel BMW went about getting the MINI the wrong way!

Pmsl....

But

When a company rapes another company then sell's it on with no chance and sends 15000 jobs to the dogs it make's some long memorys. it anit about bini's or what ever they call em ( seems bini's owners like to think so thou ) it's about the company thats makes em and the bini is there flagship to take all the flack.

one of the main reason bmw bought mini was to lower their overall emmisions and the engine they are fitted with and were fitted with are now peugoet engines and were toyota and chrysler... in my opinion bmw is one of the best manufacturers in the industry and thay know what they are doing.
